Service traction system light on after getting new tire

Silhoutte with 90,000 mi. got a new front tire on drivers side about one week ago. they moved back tire that was about 4 months old up to front to match new tire. Two older tires (about 40,000 milie in back). Yesterday noticed a gas like smell from drivers side wheel well. Today the service traction light is coming on, traction off light on, then service traction light goes off. Not noticed any difference in driving.

Measuring spoon wheel adjuster

you need to have it properly aligned, the tracking is different on every vehicle there is an amount of play in the adjustments but if it will not go into the recommend rang on the alignment then there is a problem, before taking to have this done make sure the tracking nuts and bars are easily moveable, undo them and move back and forth as if they find it hard to move they charge you more, if they can undo the nuts and move the bars around easy they cannot charge you for the extra charge. also make sure you have new tyres fitted as work or uneven ware can affect the camber to the road and wear the tyres down quicker and cause other problems later on.

Service traction system

Hi mzcongeniali, I have a 2001 Montana that had this same problem just a few months ago. Most likely the problem is that one of the traction sensors has gone bad. The sensor is part of the wheel bearing and you will have to replace the whole wheel bearing in order to replace the sensor. They are found on the front wheel bearings on both sides. You might have only one that is bad or both could be bad. If you want you could get a used one from a auto salvage yard or buy one brand new. If you have an all wheel drive then you will want to check all four wheel bearings to find the bad one. I hope this helps.

Traction contol, Transmission, Tire pressers sensor

I'm fighting problem #1 right now myself... I'll let you know if I find an answer.

Anytime you get the Low Tire Pressure light you have to reset it. There is a panel on the driver's side of the dash, facing the door. So you have to have your door open to get to it.You are looking for the red button.

From the 1999 Alero manual:

"To reset(calibrate) the system, turn the ignition switch to ON. The RESET button is located inside the drivers side fuse panel. Press and release the RESET button.

The CHANGE OIL light will begin to flash. Press and release the RESET button again. The CHANGE OIL light will go off, and the LOW TIRE PRESSURE light will start flashing. When the LOW TIRE PRESSURE light is flashing, press and hold the RESET button until the chime sounds."
