1997 pontiac grand prix with major issues

I have a 1997 pontiac grand prix that has several problems. First, all of the dash/dummy lights are on. Any suggestions where to start with this.
Also, none of the brake lights work, the tail lights and turn signals work. Tried changing out the switch at the brake pedal with no luck.
Last, the car will start up and when you drive it a little ways it dies. When you try to start it back up it will idle but when you press on the gas it idles up and starts shaking and dies. If you leave it sit for a period of time, like overnight it will run for a little while and do the same thing. Is it the fuel filter or dreaded fuel pump?

Dummy lights. I found that if the tire pressure low light reset button on a 1997 Pont grand prix is located under the steering dash. The button is yellow. Just push it in for 5 seconds and it will reset the indicator light.

If you have a engine service soon light on and the vehicle stalls often. Replace the MAF sensor. It runs about $250.00 from Auto Zone. They will credit back or pay back $92.00 for the old MAF part taken out. This will allow your 1997 Pont grand prix to run without idle problems and stalling issues.

Check all fuses for turn signal and brake lights.change fuel filter . first. do a little tune up change spark plugs and wires . if changing fuel filter dont help. have fuel pressure check first before buying a new fuel pump .they run after taxes 400.00 dollars. your fuel pressure should be 41 to 47 psi. replace fuel pump relay also.

1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GT; Elec problem with fan

Replace the blower resistor that is mounted next to the blower motor on the passenger side of the vehicle.
This will restore correct blower operation and I suspect it is also back-feeding voltage resulting in your electrical issues.
Two screws hold the blower resistor into the heater case and it is very easy to replace.
Good luck

its easier to test them all get a test light turn your ignition to on position turn park lights on and dimmer switch to fully lit position now test each side of every fuse until you find one that only lights the test light on one side replace it. in case you have never done this before its easy the fuses have an open at both top corners stick test light tip in it and the other side to a ground.clean metal surface .

Pulled error code p0170 1997 grand prix 3.8L w/superch

Hello - this DTC indicates an issue with the MAP sensor. You can replace this rather easily and any major auto parts store can read this code, clear this code and also carry the part you need.

Dash lights

You will have to replace the light bulbs. In order to do this, you'll have to take apart the cluster and radio to get to them. Visit www.oqcgp.net to search for fixes to common grand prix problems

Indicator lights

I think that there is a button located under the dash at the right side of the steering column. To reset the low tyre pressure warning you need to press the button immediately after inflating all tyres to right pressure.
