Question about 2001 Pontiac Sunfire

2001 Pontiac Sunfire electrical problem

My Wife's 2001 Sunfire's icm circuit is still draining the battery in 2 days.
The circuit is hot at ALL times and draws ~ 5 amps or more.
Something in the circuit is faulty.
As a band aid fix I've wired a 10a fuse from the cruise control (powered only with ignition on) (the car has no cruise control) but then we have no interior lights until the ignition is on.
Does anyone have any idea what I could check, Hope it's not a faulty instrument cluster. Thanks for looking.

Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. Check fusible links where applicable.
Pick any component that is fuse protected and doesn't work. At the fuse box, check that fuse circuit for voltage, use a test lite. Even if the fuse is good, if no voltage on the fuse circuit, the circuit is still dead. Some fuses are hot all the time, some go hot with the key on. Do any electricals work?

Why does my 2003 pontiac sunfire lose all power while driving

That can be the symptom of a bad Ignition Control Module, or also a bad crank position sensor. The ICM can be taken off and tested for free at any parts store. The crank sensor circuit can be tested on the car with a multi-meter. Also small motors (like a fuel pump motor) that are starting to fail can sometimes work until they get hot and then stop working until they cool down again.

Next time the car shuts down and won't restart, check for spark on a spark plug wire with the engine cranking over. If you have no spark, suspect the ignition control module or the crank position sensor. If you still have spark, but won't start, check if the fuel pump is putting gas up to the engine.

Sunfire overheating, not low on coolant

Sensor on the engine sends info to the computer that triggers fan relay and sends power to fan. Most often problem is sensor or relay but quick check fan itself by hot wiring it to the battery Polarity is not an issue...if you get wrong it will run backwards. If it does not run, it's bad.
