Only if the warning light showed on the dash...most often these abs sensors get clogged with brake dust or dislodged during wheel swaps if the pads are fine and fluid level correct...first check the brake pads then the disks and clean the sensors with an old toothbrush and reseat, also check the fluid level on the abs system.this should clear warning light.but any error codes stored on ecu need to be cleared using obd.
You have an extremely dangerous situation! Your ABS master cylinder circuit is faulty and leaking allowing air in your whole braking circuits ... thus the brake pedal to the floor! I am afraid that you might need to get your whole braking system reconditioned and serviced as your car is now completely unroadworthy!
Hello hummelsautob. Changing the power steering cooler can't allow air into the brake system. Two different fluid systems. Your F250 has it's brake assist powered by the power steering pump. Instead of using a vacuum assist it uses the hydraulic power from the pump. When refilling your pump you have gotten air mixed in with the fluid. This turns it into a consistency something like whipped cream. When in this state it isn't effective. Let it sit for a couple hours and let the air bubble out of the fluid. Recheck your level after this as it will drop. This will make your brakes feel normal again. Just a note on adding fluid to an empty power steering pump. Add fluid to the reservoir but not to the top, turn the steering wheel back and forth slowly with the engine off. This will keep the fluid from foaming.
The light indicates a malfunction in the ABS (ALB) system. First, I would check your brake fluid level in the ABS unit (see pic, similar, I think). It should be between the max and min levels indicated on the front face of the reservoir. You should also check your regulator brake fluid reservoir to make sure the level there is correct. Dot3 or Dot4. If that is not the problem, then wheel sensors would be suspect, but that would be a Honda service indication.
Hope this helps you.
The fluid should be between the MIN and MAX marks on the side of the reservoir. DOT3 or DOT4.
Are you having a problem finding the reservoir? The filler cap? I believe that the reservoir is close to where the driver’s front fender meets the grill. The cap is on top. And the MIN MAX fill lines are at the front (at least that’s where it is on a 92).
By the way, if you ABS (ALB) light is coming on, that indicates that there is an electrical or hydraulic problem with the system, but if anything is wrong with the ABS it will automatically shut down and your regular brakes will function as they always do.The reason I point this out is that I’m not exactly sure what the problem is that you are having.Additionally, if you reservoir is entirely empty, you will probably have to have the system bled in order to get rid of any air that has gotten into it.And, of course, you would want to know where that brake fluid went.If I’m not understanding your problem, post a comment.
Hope this helps you.
if the abs pump is making noise you either have an air pocket in it or a bad pump, so this is what you need to do have the car pluged in to a modis and have them run a bleeder program, this will make the pump bleed the air from the system, the problem with doing some of this maintanance at home is sometimes you need specialty tools to do the job right this requires a $8,000.00 computer to make sure the air is purged from the system. call a shop and ask them what they will charge to do this. my shop where i work would charge around $25.00 to run this with the modis...
good luck
Do you still have the problem ? If so, try disabling the ABS completely (electrically) by disconnecting the 50 amp breaker and remove the ABS controller. You should have brake power restored and be careful as the brakes will lock now if you apply too much foot pedal pressure. I hope this helps.
