if im not mistaken that year model will set the 2107 code also if there is a bad coil pack or miss fire. How long has it been on the plugs, last time they were changed? if its been a while I'd start there. The coils can cause what is refered to as RF Frequency interference. But finding out which coil is causing the misfire, can be tricky. The best way is to find someone who can do what the dealership is a power balance good luck.
Looks like the 3.0 engine has coil on plug ignition, so each cylinder has a coil. The coils are fired like injectors, you have one wire for voltage from the key switch on a 10amp fuse and the other is a ground from the PCM. You should be able to check it for spark and for voltage and ground like any normal coil.
have you considered buying a $14.oo haynes repair manual from Kargen or one of those type stores? If not just google your year, model and engine type and a diagram comes up
It is on the Driver side of engine in between the COP's (Coil on plugs) simply unplug the wire use a 19 or 3/4 deep well socket and unscrew it and put it new one... The whole process should only take 10-15 minutes.
