Headlight bulb replacement for 2000 Caviler

I followed the directions in the owners manual to replace the headlight bulb, but could not get the assembly pulled out far enough to get to the bulb. I removed the shield and the two bolts on the top of the headlight assembly. The manual indicates that the headlight assembly should just pull out at that point, but it seems to be attached to the parking light/flasher light and won't pull out more than half an inch or so.

I had the same issue. After checking some forums it seems you just keep pulling until the cheap plastic tab holding it snaps. Don't worry it will still go back in place and stay there. I did it a year ago and still no problems.

Actually, you do not have to break it. Use a screwdriver to bias the assembly up over the oval hold where the tab goes it

Why dont you start by checking the fuses for headlights refer to your owners manual for the location of the fuse box for your car. if the fuses are good then replacing headlight bulbs to both headlight assembly is your next step.If after replacing both headlight bulb you still have the same problem then you might have other electrical issues.

How to change headlight on 2000 galant

  • 1
Place the Mitsubishi on a flat service in park. Set the parking brake before continuing.

  • 2Open the Galant's hood and locate the headlight cover -- roughly 3-inch wide circular piece of plastic -- behind the headlight bulb intended for replacement. Turn this cover clockwise to unlock it and pull it from the headlight assembly, exposing the headlight socket below it.

    3

Hold the rear of the headlight socket and turn it counterclockwise to unlock it. Pull the headlight socket and bulb from the headlight assembly.

    4

Grab the bulb and pull it from the socket with a slight wiggling motion.

    5

Pick up the new 9003 headlight bulb using a clean, lint-free cloth and line up its prong with the slots in the socket. Never tough the bulb with your bare hands, as the oils left by your hands can cause the bulb to burn out prematurely.

    6

Slide the socket and new bulb into the headlight assembly and turn the socket clockwise to lock it into place.

    7

Place the plastic cover behind the bulb and turn it counterclockwise to lock it into place.

    8

Repeat Steps 1 through 7 for the headlight bulb on the other side of the Galant, if needed.

    9Close the Galant's hood.

Daytime Running Lights Inoperative 2002 Toyota Camry

[Information] For a 2002 Toyota Camry, the Daytime Running Lights (DRL) operate utilizing the High Beams (inner Lamps closer to the center of the vehicle front) at a reduced power.

[The troubleshooting process:] Review the Owner's Manual and ensure the test configuration matches the following criteria:
    1. According to the 2002 Toyota Camry Owner's Manual (Check your Owners Manual):
"The DRL system will make your headlights come on at a reduced brightness when:
The light switch s in the "DRL" position.
The ignition is on with the engine running.
    The headlight switch is off.
    The parking brake is released."

    2. Set the Test Conditions according to Step 1 above.

    3. Check the headlight bulbs to ensure they are not burned out. If one burns out, there is a fair chance that the other would have burned out at the same time. Replace as necessary. In this case, if the high beams operate, the DRLs should also operate.
    4. Test the system, ensuring the step 1 conditions are set. (Engine running, Multi-function Switch on Turn Signals in "DRL" position, headlight switch off (repeating what the manual says -- it should be obvious that in the "DRL" position, the headlight switch should be off / do not have the switch positioned to "High Beam"), and the Parking Brake "off").
    5. If DRL lights do not work, check the engine compartment Fuse and Relay Box. there is a 5 Amp DRL fuse -- replace it with the spare. Test (step 4).
    6. If it does not work, swap around or replace relays -- there are three (3). Any one of them could be bad (stuck or burned out). Test (step 4).
    7. Other less likely possible issues could be that the Multi-function Switch is broken or a connection / wire is broken. [Beyond the scope of this process.]

My problem was that the test configuration did not have the engine running and parking brake off - Step 1. Problem solved with much thought, repetitive tests on the vehicle and going back to the basics -- what does the Owner's Manual say and where are the applicable fuses and relays located?

    Headlight bulb replacement

Surprisingly, your owners manual is one of the best sources for information on headlight replacement and taillight replacement. I learned this a few years ago myself, it's the only repair instruction they put in a automobile owners manual.

How do i change headlamp bulbs

Changing the headlight bulb is a little bitdifficult for those not familiar with the vehicle. Both the high and low beamsare encased in a sealed unit, which also contains the turn signal, parkinglights, and side reflector. To change a single headlight, the entire headlightcompartment must be removed from the car. Once you understand how to remove thesealed headlight unit from the car, replacing the bulb is relatively simple.Follow the steps below on how to change the headlamp bulb in this car. Removal 1. Open the hood of the Jeep and locate thelong, headlamp jackscrew. The screw is located almost directly above theheadlight unit and can be removed using a 7-mm socket wrench. This will allowyou to remove the bezel from the grill opening panel. Remove the three screwsattached to the retaining ring to the headlight console. The screws are locatedon the bottom front and side of the unit. In some models the screws have beenreplaced with ball-stud alignment posts, enabling you to remove the headlightunit by simply wiggling it loose. 3. Disconnect the headlamp bulb wireharness connector located at the front of the headlight unit. This is locateddirectly above and between the parking and turning bulbs. 4. Separate the sealed headlight unit fromthe vehicle; disconnect and replace the old bulb. The high beam is locatedtoward the center of the car. The low beam is the bulb on the outermost edge ofthe unit. This is how to Install 1. Reconnect the headlamp bulb's wireharness-connector. Then Replace the headlight unit in the headlight canister. Positionthe retaining ring back in its original position and install the three screwsagain. If you wiggled the unit out, ensure that it is replaced firmly. 2. Install the headlamp bezel by replacingthe 7-mm jackscrew on the inside of the hood. Make sure all connections aretight before starting the car and inspecting the replacement.
