First check the fuse,if ok. Check if you still get power to the blower motor, on the plug, if so. you need to replace the blower motor and resistor. if not check power supply to blower switch, and power after the switch, if you turn switch on and off.

The blower motor resister is bad...It is very common in chevy trucks. The resister is located behind the glove box and is held in place by two screws, it will also have a wire harness attached to it. If you want to see a picture of it go to www.partsamerica.com and search for the blower motor resister.

SOURCE: Heater/ac switch speeds 1 and 2 don not work in 99 Silverado

you need a resister found under your air duct by the passenger floor under dash board auto zone sells these for about 25.00 you may as well buy cabin air filters while your at it . 1 of the screws will be a pain to install back into the duct work I left mine out didn,t make a difference . you might have to order it as they are a comman item oh you will need a vacuum to clean up mess from cabin air filters .this is not a hard job .

You might have a bad speed selector switch, or your blower motor resistor is faulty.

I'm working on a 93 escort and have no dash lights or heater fan. All other lights work Anyone have a fix?

ok under the hood were the blower motor is, or under the dash were over it may be there is a resistor there has 2 screws holding it in pace with a plug should have 4 or 5 wires on it with a test light or mult meter test for power there if you have power at the red wire the other 3 wires one is your low speed the other is med speed the 3rd id hi speed test them for power, you will need to turn your speed switch from low to med then hi to see volts there if you have power at one and not the others unplug it and put a jumper wire in there and you fan should work on what ever speed wire you have it in and if it work on all 3 speed by installing a jumper you will need to replace the resistor there a round 20 bucks .....

Fan only works on speed 4

It is probably the resistor pack on the heater case. This little device controls fan speeds. Yours must be broke. Just pull off the 4 or 5 wire electrical connector, unscrew the 2 fasteners, and pull the unit out for replacement. They are not expensive, but knowing Ford, it may not be as cheap as it should. All they are is a little pack with 3 different coiled wires. Each one will cause a different fan speed by restricting current flow to the motor. Location should be near the fan motor.

Question:If the 30 A. fuse on a 2002 focus dash blower motor is good, and the thermal resistor is replaced, then it must be a faulty speed switch?

Don't know where you got your info . The heater blower motor electrical B+ power comes from Fuse F 64 a 40 amp fuse . This goes right to the blower motor on the green with orange stripe wire , The black with red stripe wire goes to the switch for high speed . There is Splice 24 that ties into the black with red stripe wire. The splice 24 turns into a black with orange stripe wire . An this wire goes to the blower motor resistor . All the switch does is route the B+ voltage through the different resistors to ground .

Thermal resistor "usually" stops working is because of faulty fan speed switch ???? Totally not true , resistor assemblies fail because of the heat associated with dropping voltage across the resistors , That is why they put the resistor assembly in the air box . Air blows over to cool the resistors . The switch is nothing more then a way to direct different speeds to ground .

Rather then listening to other people ,why not learn the right way to test electrical circuits .

Heater blower stopped working?

Hello,
You may want to try your fan on all speeds. If it will work on high, you have a bad resistor for the fan motor. ( high speed doesn't go through the resistor ).
If it doesn't work on any speed, I would check the following;
1. Make sure the fuse isn't blown for the fan blower motor.
2. Check, or have checked the wires between the fan control switch and the fan blower motor.
3. Have the fan control switch checked.
4. Have the fan blower motor checked.

I hope this helps you.

My air conditioner/heater blower will not work on the 4th setting. Setting 1,2, and 3 do work. I have replaced fan speed switch and replaced the resistor. Any ideas?

You'll have to find the correct wiring diagram in order to trace down the fault in your system.. Once you obtain the wiring diagram you'll be able to see what else beside wire is between the #4 speed setting and the blower motor. My guess is you might find a high speed fan relay is triggered from the #4 fan switch setting, applying full battery voltage to the blower motor. If locating the appropriate diagram proves to be difficult you can try looking around the underhood and passenger compartment fuse panel to find a relay. Keep in mind not all relays are always in fuse boxes which makes the diagram important.

2003 chev malibu blower fan not working in position #1,#2 ,#3.Works fine on #4,#5 Help please

its the heater fan resistor thats causing it. it has coils for different fan speeds, if a coil burns out or breaks. then you will loose that fan speed. to replace resistor, remove glove box to give ya more room so you dont have to stand on your head!! remove insulating panel under glove box. loosen and slide ecm to the side. now you can see heater blower fan, resistor is beside it, just remove wires , take out the hold down screws. and thats it!

Hyundai coupe r/h drive heater

hi from uk your heater fan problem is most likely to be what is known as the resistor pack sometimes called the reostat and is connected to fan motor case it has the wires for fan connected this unit operates rather like an elec hob controlling amount of heat if this simplifies it for you? speeds 1 2 3and 4 gives the speed selected on fan control knob not too difficult to find and diy a replacement? and not too expensive ? these units do burn out occasionally on most cars as they age hope this helps/inspires ?
