Battery went flat. after changing the car battery the cd player is now jamed. when you ut the face on, it lights up in the off position. when you turn it on, the light goes out, and the system appears to turn itself on. But no music plays. all the controls work etc, but no sound, and the back light is off. when you turn the system off, the back light turns on, and the system turns off.

Is it a factory radio? If so disconnect your positive battery cable for 30 seconds. It will reset your computer upon hookup. If it is an aftermarket radio then usually it has a detachable face. Behind that you will find a little hole. That is the reset button just for the radio.
If the car wont turn over at all,, turn on the lights and try starting the engine ,,if lights stay bright then its the starter motor if not and lights go out then either battery is flat and or no good Or the starter is jamed Or the battery leads or term are dirty or loose ie Clean and refit term and recheck.
