Start by checking coolant level . Then make sure the doors inside the dash are moving when operating from cool to warm . then you might need a new thermastat if everything checks out from there if that dont help then you have a more serios issue.
First thing to check is your coolant level in radiator itself. Take cap off, start engine, turn heater (not defrost) on & watch & see if level goes down at all, if it does top it up & keep adding as needed until rad fan comes on 2 or 3 times, then goes off. Put cap back on, fill return bottle to mark & try it. Did this just happen, was it o.k. before?
Hows temperature reading on gauge?
Did you notice if rad level was down at all?

just happen---when cold front came in
temp gauge normal
check it out---coolant was low a bit in plastic resvr--but i replaced the plastic knob to temp control--it was broken---and not turning--so it was stuck on cold air---works great now-thanks for input guys...
