SOURCE: My 1995 Volvo 850 will not start. I think it is

another way to test it
unplug any fuel line you can locate tell a friend to start key one turn only if the line squirts fuel then pump is working and it might need regulator
if not then pump is gone

Testimonial: "That was good. Since I necer hear the pump I am shure that when I open up a line I will have proven out the bad pump. Thank You."

SOURCE: Trying to fix my Volvo

Make sure you have a fully charged battery...clean the terminals real well.
Alternator only charges the battery when the correct engine rpm is attained.
A clicking noise could be the starter solenoid which is basically a relay / contactor but can block power from reaching the starter.
Worn brushes in the starter can also zap a battery's power.

Battery, starter and aloternator can be tested at most part stores.

From what you describe, I'd clean battery terminals and ensure battery is fully charged.
If clicking still happens, I'd move to the solenoid and starter.

Hope this helps...

SOURCE: My Volvo s60 won't start

you will need to try to turn the engine manually to make sure its not frooze. if it turns then you might need to check the starter again.

2009 corolla hooked up jumper cable backwards, car won't start

TAKE OF BOTH CABLES AND GROUND THEM TOGETHER FOR 30 OR SO MINUTES, THIS WILL RESET THE CARS MEMORY, TEST VOLTAGE ON BATTERY WITH VOLT METER & IF IT IS BELOW 12.31V THEN CHARGE THE BATTERY , ONCE BATTERY CHARGED HOOK UP BATTERY LEADS (TO RIGHT TERMINALS) & ATTEMPT TO START CAR, IF ALL YOU GET IS A CLICK THEN LOCATE THE STARTER MOTOR & GIVE IT A FIRM WHACK WITH A HAMMER (SERIOUSLY) THIS WILL FREE UP THE STARTER & WILL ALLOW THE CAR TO CRANK

My 2006 volvo s40 won't start and the key (remote) does not work. Had to use regular key to open the door. alarm still on and car won't start.

I had the same problem when my battery went flat and tried to use jumper cables connected to another vehicles battery. I called Volvo and they said I need to disconnect the battery terminal to reset the computer. After re-conecting it the remote control worked again and I was able to jump start the car. Maybe your car's computer went into a similar state.

Battery is dead, and I can't get in trunk. Manual

If you don't find the keyhole, find someone with jumper cables to power up the car so you can open the trunk. If the battery is in the trunk there should be a positive jumper cable connection point under the hood, Find bare metal on the engine to connect the negative jumper cable.
