98 Pontiac Bonneville intermittent miss cold or hot

Intermittent miss cold or hot, goes away when you floor it and the rpm's max out. Acts like a bad coil, bad plug or plug wire, but all were changed out last year. It will not happen for a few days, then it will act up once or twice a day, dry weather not wet. Checked for codes only code is a misfire. The car has had a hesitation when you initially accellerate for a while now. If I remember correctly the traction control limits engine rpm and I was wondering if this is the problem.

    The ignition module was bad. replaced with a new one, no more problem.

Misfires are also from low fuel pressure and bad injectors
run a can of quality injector through the system to see if that improves the problem

i had a 94 that ran into problems like that with very rough idles and misses. i get about five different codes from injectors to oxygen sensor. turned out my negative wire from the battery was so corroded inside the insulation it was causing all sorts of problems. bought new cable and ends from canadian tire $40.00 and installed (had to clean the connection to the block with sand paper) but fixed all my problems after that.

have you checked the engine for vacume leaks or advanced timing or even sticking accelorator cable or linkage? these are always a good place to start for excess acceleration

The piston rings in your engine might be needed to be replaced already... go to a local shop with a compression tester.. have your engine tested for compression leaks.. if it does have compression leaks.. then you need to change piston rings. Note** white smokes = engine is burning oil..

I have a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville that is shutting off while I am driving. It eventually starts but it happens over and over. I changed the fuel relay switch but it still happens. what next?
How long since a tune-up? Are there any applicable trouble codes? Some of the national brand auto stores will check codes free. Does it stall at idle or going down the highway?
With extended crank, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and check fuel injector pulse.

If injector pulse is missing when problem is ongoing, two things I think of, do you have an rpm signal and security system where applicable. The rpm signal comes from crank sensor. Intermittent problems can be a pain to track. Don't replace anything unless your testing points in that direction.
