Check the O2 sensor heaters with an ohmmeter. Also test the EGR solenoid valve by applying 12 vdc directly to the solenoid pins.

Disconnect the HO2S.

  1. Measure the resistance between PWR and GND terminals of the sensor. Resistance should be approximately 6 ohms at 68°F (20°C). If resistance is not within specification, the sensor's heater element is faulty.
  2. With the HO2S connected and engine running, measure the voltage with a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) between terminals HO2S and SIG RTN(GND) of the oxygen sensor connector. Voltage should fluctuate between 0.01-1.0 volts. If voltage fluctuation is slow or voltage is not within specification, the sensor may be faulty.

Alldata diy is the way to go.  However, I can tell you.  Remove the intake plenum stay. then the roll stopper bar.  Unbolt alternator and then fish it thru to the passenger side.  ( you may need to remove some hoses, etc.  It WILL work,  I just did mine.  Chiltons says remove from under car, No way.  It must go thru to the passenger side.

If you have trouble codes stored in your cars computer for O2 sensors a fuse will not fix it. One or all of the O2's may need to be replaced. There are test that can be done to confirm which one.

Just maybe your O2 sensors are not operating properly. They may be requiring your engine to heat them up to get upper temperature readings but not lower. You can easily diagnose these and all other sensors and problems by purchasing a Hains manual at your local Auto Zone or Advance auto store which will greatly aide you in diagnosing all your auto needs. And the fault symptom index at the beginning of the book will ease your troubles with professional one on one advice with step by step instructions. Its like having your own ASE certified mechanic at your finger tips. Good luck.

Is all the O2 sensors the same on a 2002 Mitsubishi Diamante ?

all O2 sensors are the same and all HO2S sensors are the same
But a HO2S sensor is different to an O2 sensor
HO2S sensors are in the exhaust manifold before the cat converter and O2 sensors are in the exhaust pipe after the cat converter
so what sensor exactly are you refering to

No the diamante is not turbo

Did you check for exhaust leaks? I would assume that if you had it professionally done, then that would be something they checked for. However, most DIYers don't bother checking their flange or donut gaskets.

If you don't have any exhaust leaks, try resetting the code (I don't often suggest doing that, but a simple Google search mentioned that this particular code has issues resetting itself on some Mitsubishi models). Disconnect your battery for about 30 Minutes, or overnight to be on the safe side, and then reconnect it. The light will be off at that point. Give it approximately 300 miles and see if the light comes back on. If not, awesome. If it does, then your problem isn't fixed and you need to start checking some wiring! Good luck!

Hi, I have a Mitsubishi Diamante ES2004 love my car. My engine light came on so I took it in for Diagnosis test. The trouble code p0401, which means exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient detected....

It doesn't work quit that simply

You have all the items listed, that you need to be
familar with & know how to test

Only then-- if one of those items fails a test-- do you replace it

So you need a repair shop

Way to complicated-- even for some professional
mechanics just starting out--- or not up to speed

01 diamante egr

you have a weak mixture so a fault with the O2 sensors is more likely to be your proble as this is what the codes 171/174 mean and 401 is insufficient gas recycling ,use a multimeter to check the O2 sensors ,so reply if they have three wires or four wires and i will explain how to check them as theyr like 90euros for the 3 wire and 50 euros for the four wire one trade price from a auto factor ,retail?

01 DIAMANTE IS SPUTTERING ANS A CK ENG SOON LIGHT IS ON. wHAT IS MOST LIKELY THE PROBLEM?

Hi,

Due to the intricacy of your Diamante's Emission system, this condition could be caused by any number of Air/Fuel/Vaccuum components (or sensors).

For this reason, you should have your diagnostics checked.

In the meantime, look for any small vaccuum hoses which may have detached themselves from the MAP sensor, or other related component.

Good luck...
