Question about 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis

Odometer stopped working

The odometer in my 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis stopped working. My tripodometer does work. Also, my air bag light blinks. Coincidence??
Checked fuses and modules, all are good.

    I have the same problem with my 94 grand marquis. The odemetor has stopped working and the machanic that looked at it says there is nothing they could do to correct this. I will never know my miles at this point. Also, my air bag light blinks all the time. I am afraid it may not work if the situation presents itself. Are we really at a lost for fixing these problems? someone help...

    Odometer stopped working, tridometer aswell. Air bag light blinks all the time. Check engine light stays on.

I replaced the odometer with one from a junkyard. Works fine now. The odometer had locked up on my car and had broken the drive gear. Replace the odometer assembly and drive motor together. Cost was about $50 for the speedometer, odometer, tripmeter assembly. I have extra parts now. The whole assembly comes out fairly easily if you take your time. Good luck!

You can't disable the system to turn the light off. The system is disabled when the light is on.
Code 34 is for the driver side bag circuit, which could be several different issues. I never recommend car owners working on SRS but you can buy a shop manual and give it a try if you like.

The odometer stopped working.The speedometer works but not the odometer or the trip meter.
inside the cluster is a min-computer that controls both of these

therefore, assuming you do not have a wire loose then it appears you will need a new cluster assembly

94 grand marquis cruise control does not work and air bag lite blinks on and off. Are these two problems associated together ?
Hello dogjasper.
Both of these issues will be caused by a part under the steering wheel called a "clockspring".
This part allows the transfer of electrical energy through a plastic spring with wire leads impregnated into it.
The plastic over time will crack and the wire along with it.
The clockspring carries current for both the air bag and your cruise control.
The steering wheel will need to be removed to access this part to be replaced.

Air bag light blinks anti brake light on
Depending on when you start counting the air bag blinks...1-5 or
5-1...that means it won't work. (Good news, if ya don't want it to.) Ford assured me it will NOT activate.

Sorry I can't help with the brake light, but...I'd check the fluid level & if the brakes work fine, I wouldn't concern myself with it.

The speedometer in my 1995 grand marquis has stopped working. The cruise control however does work. All other instruments and instrument lights work. The speedo was working and slowly went to 0. All fuses...
This is electronic and is either the sending unit from the trans mission, unlikely since the cruise works, or a burned circuit in the instrument cluster for the Speedometer and Odometer. Double check your connections to make sure they haven't come apart somehow but you may want to have a shop look at this and isolate the problem.

1992 Mercury Grand Marquis - The odometer stopped working. The problem was traced to the instrument panel. The dealer will only replace the whole instrument panel except they can't get one for that car....
Go to a auto recycler or ebay.com ..... you have to remove the woodgrain trim panels and the radio ... then the bezel ... a string that attaches to the steering column to the gearshift selector in the gauges then the guages ...

The trip odometer does not work.
Your problem is within the odometer its self. I would check with a local parts house to see if they deal with a speedometer repair business. Then the unit can be removed and sent out for repair, saving you the cost of buying a new one.

Tail lights and odometer lights dont work
I had the same problem with my 1993 Grand marquis.There is a relay on the passenger side under the hood for the DRL( Daytime running lights)that was bad.I changed it and all is good again.
