Car wont start and the insturment panel will not come on and the battery is good. 2001 cadillac deville went to store this moring got back in the car and now it wont start. worked fine this moring.

Simply start the vehicle, unhook the battery negative cable from the battery. If the car continues to run, the alternator is more than likely good. Won't hurt to take the vehicle to the nearest auto store and they will test it and the battery for you for free.

Instructions for ECM-reset:
1 Loosen the bolt on the black battery cable until the connector opens enough to come off the battery stud. Place a piece of cardboard between the cable and the stud to ensure no electrical connection remains.
2 Turn the headlights on for several seconds to use up any stored power, then return them to the "off" position.
3 Remove the cardboard and reconnect the battery cable by reversing the previous steps. The ECM has been reset to a clean state.
It's hard to say for sure since it sounds like it could be many things. If you turn the key and you hear a few clicks coming from the engine and then nothing, it could mean a very very weak battery. Your first step should be trying a different (fully charged) battery. Good luck.
it appears that the brake is faulty and when in forward direction is putting itself on. It is free in reverse. check the brakes are in good condition and properly retained
If you have to jump it or charge it in order to get it started every time, I think maybe the battery is no good. Take the battery to a good auto parts store and they will test the battery free of charge. Your gages can show good battery voltage and still not have enoughcranking amps to start the engine.
I'm sure you've checked, but will the headlights come on? Radio? Any sign of power? Did you check the battery voltage under the hood? Our 2001 was dead. No signs of life at all. I checked the voltage and was approx 3.5V on new battery. I pulled the back seat and measure straigt off the battery. 11.89V. Believe it or not, had loose connection for no rhyme or reason. Tighted battery connections and we're back on the road. Just a thought.......
