1994 pathfinder wont start, wont engage, wont turn over. think i activated the anti theft device

Put a new starter in, ran fine, took out the carpet and unplugged some some fuses, and took off door panells. pulled the lock knob up by hand instead of using the key while car was off and doors closed..i left the window down so just reached my hand in. now it wont start. could I have triggered the anti theft device?

If you suspect that, you may need to have the dealer re-program the theft deterrent processor.

SOURCE: anti theft activates while the car is running leaving me locked in the car

i dont think that these vehicles for this year automaticly lock themselves so you must be locking yourself in with the switch inside the vehicle ,Now is this antitheft device the factory immobilisor as i have never seen fault on our europeon models which makes me think that this is a after market device and as such if i am correct in this then i would get my side cutters out and remove the thing as this is the sort i fault i see a lot of on here with american cars ,i think its a viper auto start /alarm and they seem to give no end of problems judging by the questions. For the life of me i cannot understand why anyone would want to lock themselves in a car in case of an accident and someone outside couldnt get you out in a hurry ,But who am i to judge but our europeon models do not lock themselves and never give a problem with the alarm going off when driving in fact they are one of the better cars for not giving immobilisor problems ,the door lock with its peculiar rod at the back that breaks with great frequency is a pain but alarms ? never a problem

SOURCE: my 94 pathfinder was running good, i took out carpet and removed the door paneling along with unhooking some fuses. i unlocked the doors while car was off by pulling the lock up with my hands instead

Exactly what is the problem with your '94 pathfinder? Does it start? if so-does it continue to run? What else is screwed up?

Car wont start, no clicks no sound

make sure you have power getting to your starter when you crank. check the small nut on the starter. should have 12 v or very close to it. this will tell you if your getting power to the starter or if somethign before the starter and something maybe with your anti theft system or not. its hard to say online cause of that anti theft. doest the light flash at all? the anti theft light?

if your getting power to the starter when you crank make sure your getting good power to the starter by turning on the head lights and see if they dim. a good starter will cause the headlites to dim when attempting to start. if nothing dims check connections. or assume bad starter motor. make sure your also getting power to the main starter stud as well.

good luck
