Before i replaced the engine on my chevy it turned on just wouldn't turn over. now that it is on it won't even turn the headlights on all i get is current from the battery to the starter. i've checked all connections and fuses but i can't seem to find why it won't start.
Any losen weire araund starter?on starter hawe 3gray fusebel link weire and hawe to conect with same weire from batt big red weire.if are conected chek gray 3 weire by sleigty poling on weire and see if is brocken samtime brick iseide under insolation and yu cant see disconect batt before inspection

you have to remove the cover over the torque converter 4 bolts holds this on .you may be able to just move it out of the way. and yes it does sound like a starter problem.i hope this helps

your statement is fuel pump work ok, have you tested for proper fuel pressure. just because the fuel pump works it could have less pressure needed to start the engine. maybe the fuel filter is plugged. start out by replacing the fuel filter, if this doesn't fix it, you need to pressure test the pump. even 10 psi reduction in pressure will allow the engine not to start.

You have likely not connected an important wire somewhere. check power to alternator and any other main power leads either coming off the alt or starter. Got any hanging wires or something you tucked back somewhere while you were working?
is the battery fully charged?
