When i went to install my remote wire from my amplifier i hit the wire with my knife. the radio shut off and now it wont turn on. i checked all wires and fuses. did i blow a circuit in my radio? do i have to get a new one?

  • n_farnsworth Mar 10, 2009

The wire that i hit was connected to the car wires. In the ford taurus 2003 it was black and pink. i stupidly had the car on while i was trying to figure out which wire was what.

Just hitting the remote wire with your knife would do no damage. I'm assuming the knife was somehow grounded and then you touched the "Hot" remote wire?...

Check the rear of the radio. Some of the radios have a spade type fuse in the very rear of them. You probably popped the fuse. You just have to remove the radio to replace the fuse.

REM wire connects to the REM wire at the back of the aftermarket head unit. REM stands for remote and is typically a blue wire. Hope this helps, if you need further assistance I would be happy to help you. Please feel free to contact me at:

No sound using scorched cr4000c on 2011 Jeep Wrangler with infinity sound. Help

Hi. Your jeep may have an amplifier that you need to figure out which wires are considered "extra" to the radio harness. Typically, it's a separate ground and a separate "remote" wire. THis remote wire tells the amplifier to TURN ON when your radio is turned on.

No sound output in 2000 BMW 328i 4dr Sedan but radio functions properly?

Hi Toxey.

Does your trunk amplifier got power.
basically amp need remote power input it is coming from your radio.
please check when you turn on the radio remote power must turn on.
if no it is radio problem or wire is damaged itself.
please check the outputs, speakers with multimeter or single 1.5v cell.
if power is ok.and the remote on signal is ok your device still not working , it is the problem with power amplifier unit.

please check and let us know the status.
regards.

Had a radio installed it flicks or pops frm time to time but this maybe causing my fuse to pop and my car wont start. Had put a relay switch on about a month ago.helppp

Hi.

If there is popping sound and the fuse blows when the radio is flickering, then it is usually a short in the stereo wiring. The short results in excessive power draw and blows the main fuse. The radio must be removed to check the wiring behind. In some less common case the radio itself may be shorted inside becuse a defective PSU. If you have installed an amplifier check also that the problem is not the amplifier ordinary power draw, in that case the problem is fixed installing a capacitor in the amplifier power wiring.

Remote wire for amplifier

If it is not a factory stereo, it would be the blue wire, you can also connect amp wire straight up to red which is also the ign. wire for the radio. That way the amp will turn on with key also.

If you have a factory stereo, you can go to www.installer.com and get a free complete wiring diagram

Interior fuse wiring

The best place is the rear of the radio where there should either be an orange antena wire or a blue remote wire comming from the radio.
