The drivers side wiper will not sweep, when I turn on the wipers the passenger side works fine. The driver side attempts but doesnt sweep. So I doubt its the wiper motor. any ideas are welcome.

check the nut at the base of the wiper arm . There is a splined taper on the end of the wiper arm shaft and if this is loose then the arm shaft moves but it turns inside the base of the wiper arm.

Sometimes you need to bend the arm to put more pressure on the glass.

Wiper blade not making contact upper 1/3 of sweep-drivers side

Your wiper arm is worn out. You need to buy a new one. Make sure you get a Volvo OEM replacement as the after market ones are junk. The springs wear out after a while resulting in loss of contact with the windshield.

1998 Grand Prix Windshield wiper problem passenger side wiper acts erractically

I assume that the drivers side is working perfectly and only the passanger side has a shorteded erattic sweep . It will be either a loose locking nut on the wiper arm (on spindle) or unusually a faulty crank arm (weld) on the underside of the wiper spindle . Good luck

Windshield wiper not working on driver side. I does not sweep other side works fine

At the base of the wiper arm, there should be a cover.
Pop up that cover. Underneath that cover should be a nut. Tighten the nut. Careful not to overtighten!
Recheck operation.
That retaining nut has become loose.

We have a 2002 pontiac grand prix gt with wet snow the windshield wipers came apart at the base (under cowling) got it fixed they work now but the driverside stops at 3/4 swipe then goes down. passanger...

While the wipers are in the parked state, just loosen off (or remove) the wiper arm from the drive spigot and re-position the driverside wiper arm to the correct position.
Re-tighten arm drive mount and all should be well.

Sounds like you need two new wiper motors. I beliveve the gearing inside the motors are worn out and now theres alot of play in them. Try wiggling the wipers with you hands and see if you can feel any up or down / side to side movement.

1996 volvo 960 windshield wipers stalling out

Took the car to a local garage and the tech found a loose connecting rod on the gear box of the windshield wipers.
The tech was very nice and repaired the wipers and didn't charge for the repair.
The tech has made a young lady very happy and has gotten him a new customer for her future auto repairs.
This is so refreshing to find a auto repair shop that shows good will and does not take advantage of a customer.
Thanks to you and your web site for your postings and concern.
