Did you check your Transmission fluid and your differential fluids make sure there up and I don't know if you checked your rear wheel bearings or not, You can usually tell a wheel bearing when you are driving the car at highway speeds and you go around a corner and it get quite a bit louder Depending on what way you are turning if your turning right and it gets louder it will usually be the right side front or rear. the left usually the left front or back. some cases I have even heard Axles making a Howling Noise. SOURCE: replacing front wheel bearings on a 1999 honda accord

there is a hub and a bearing assembly...usually you need to press the bearings into that hub...need a press to push out the old and press in the new...i replaced mine last year by going to the junkyard and taking out the hub and bearing assembly and just putting the whole thing into my car...much simpler..plus you learn how it goes together by taking it out in the boneyard..no press needed...plus if its genuine honda parts from a honda..(you can match the markings) its likely to be a very good part for a long time. Being used isn't always a bad thing as far as honda parts are concerned.This is from my own experience hope this helps you.

Bearings are pressed into the hubs...much easier, faster and economical (if you don't have a press) to replace the complete bearing/hub assembly, no pressing is needed, since bearings are already pressed into the new hubs. Cost..aprox, 60 buxs each.
Here are the steps for the rear replacement...
Loosen the lug nuts on a rear wheel. 2) Chock the wheels and jack the rear of the car on the side with the lug nuts that you just loosened. 3) Remove the wheel by removing the lug nuts. 4) Pry open the dust cap covering the center of the axle/spindle. A small screwdriver tapped into the space between the hub and dust cap will work well for this. 5) With the dust cap now removed, use a thin center punch to straighten the little dent in the rim of the spindle nut so that you will be able to turn it freely in the next step. 6) Use a 32mm socket and a large breaker-bar to loosen the spindle nut. Unscrew the nut all the way and place it in a clean, safe area. 7) You should now be able to slide the hub/bearing assembly from the shaft. 8) Installation is the reverse of removal. Use plenty of high-temperature wheel bearing grease on all surfaces before you mount the replacement hub assembly.

IMPORTANT: Torque the spindle nut to 134 ft/lbs....(per manual specs)

When reinstalling the dust caps, tap them gently into place to avoid denting them...Install wheels, jack her down and pat yourself on the back...job complete.

SOURCE: how to replace broken stud

remove wheel, brake assembly & rotor. rotate to where the broken stud is in the opening where the brake assembly was. drive the broken stud out of the hub flange. then install the new stud by stacking washers on the new stud and tighten the lug till it pulls the new studs flange tight against the back side of the hub. remove lug and washers , reassemble .

No, you don't need 15 degrees of negative camber. Most typical specs for camber on the front of a car are between 0.0' and ~ -2.5'.

Front Wheel Allignment


On these LH body cars, camber is not adjustable. Neither is caster. Those angles are preset by the suspension geometry. However, specifications for them ARE published. Generally, if either of those two parameters are out of spec, then it's likely something is worn or damaged and needs to be replaced.

The only adjustable parameters are to the front and rear toe but specified as "Total Toe" - see note below.
The alignment specs are as follows ...

ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS AT VEHICLE CURB HEIGHT
A. FRONT WHEELS
  1. CAMBER
    Acceptable -0.6° to +0.6°
    Preferred +0.0°
    Side to Side Differential
    Acceptable 0.7° or less
    Preferred 0.0°
  2. TOTAL TOE - Specified in degrees. See Note Below
    Acceptable 0.4° in -to- 0.0° out
    Preferred 0.2° in
  3. CASTER* (reference angle)
    Acceptable +2.0° -to- +4.0°
    Preferred +3.0°
    *Side to Side Caster Difference not to exceed
    Acceptable 1.0° or less
    Preferred 0.0°
B. REAR WHEELS
  1. CAMBER
    Acceptable -0.6° -to- +0.4°

How do you fix the camber on a 02 sable?


Are you sure it's the 'camber' needs adjusting? Camber is the measured distance between the two front wheels at the top AND the bottom, measured ACROSS the car.
The most common adjustment used is 'Toe'. It's the same method of measurement as camber BUT is at the Front and Rear edges of the front wheels. (Think of your own feet. toes in, / \. Toes out, \ /).
That hit you mentioned to the left side of the car might also have bent something else, like suspension or chassis.
Get a GOOD wheel alignment specialist to look at it.

Camber on left rear is out. can this be adjusted,or does it require replacement of the comtrol arm?


Rear camber is adjustable, most front end alignment shops have the required tools to bring it back to specs, HOWEVER, if you can noticeably see that the camber is out of whack, you probably lost a bushing, in which case, you would need the new arm, and a matching one for the other side, so they perform symmetrically.

How do you know if you need a 4wheel or 2wheel alignment? 2000 Mercury Cougar.


Most FWD vehicles can have a four wheel alignment performed. A 2 wheel alignment is mainly for vehicles that are rear wheel drive. There are exceptions but the 2000 Mercury Cougar is a 4 wheel alignment.

My C70 has way more wear on the inside of the rear wheels. So I took it for new tires and a 4 wheel alliegnment. The tire shop says that this wear is due to excess negative camber and at 2 1/2 degrees on...


2.5 degrees negative camber is not within spec. You need new control arms in the rear. These will set your camber back to the factory setting and reduce your tire wear on the inner edge. The first shop you went to is correct, the camber cannot be adjusted, components must be replaced to rectify the excessive camber. Ive done a couple of New Style C70 rear control arms for this very reason, if your vehicle is under warranty however, the dealer needs to be able to prove that the car needs it. So if you dont have wear on your tires and when the toe was set it readjusted the camber (when you adjust toe it affects camber and caster measurements) then they cant prove to Volvo that it needs the control arms. Can you give me the rear wheel camber spec for a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix, GT? I am replacing the springs and would like to check & adjust (if necessary) the camber when done.


the only way you can adjust camber is special bolts. you will need a 4 wheel alignment anyhow when you are done and the alignment shop will adjust it, if needed.

Your situation is not not abnormal. Since you can't rotate due to different sizes front & rear & they are high performance "Y" speed rated tires 30K is really pretty good
