Ok man, i don't if that helps you, but when i tried it in my 1989 peugeot 205.
Try this: put on the hazzard lights and that will test some of the brake light circuit.

SOURCE: Peogeot 307 suspected faulty reversing light switch.

The reverse light switch is located on the transmission housing which is behind/under the air filter housing/battery on the 2.0 litre D turbo model. To replace it you will need to remove the top of the air filter housing and the filter (2 screws plus release the air intake pipe connected to it by a large jubillee clip, also unclip a couple of cables). To remove the switch disconnect the cable clipped to it. You will need a deep 22mm socket and a universal/flexible coupling to unscrew the switch (as access is poor unless you remove the battery compartment/air filter housing).

peugeot and citreon cars do bite high generaly, it is hydaulic there is no adjustment. but it also depends on how high it is ?? does it slip if you slightly rest your foot on whilst driving?? they do have a problem with the bearings going through the cover as it is the same bearing as a HDI . but you woud notice this as a different problem. ie noise or vibration on pedal. call me for more info .. paul @ the clutch centre..01527 64440 07790438337

Replace my brake switch on my 2000 Dodge ram pick up and my brake lights still don't work

Brake switch must be adjusted such that it is depressed with pedal up and released as soon as pedal is slightly depressed.

Brake lights dont work

Are you sure the brake pedal switch is properly adjusted? You should be able to reach under the pedal with your finger and activate the brake lamp switch. There are two relays in the rear of the car by the brake lights which activate (you can hear them click) when the pedal/switch is depressed. Make sure you also have the correct lamps specified in the owners manual. Usually if the bulbs are no good you will get an indication on the instrument cluster.

I have lost both front right and rear right lights on my peugeot 307 SW 2005

Check ground and 12v supply for all the affected bulbs. Check fuse with proper test light. Is there a separate relay for right and left lights?
If there is, try switching them.

Have a 89 ford ranger all lights work except brake lights. I replaced the switch, fuses are good and so are the bulbs. What else could be causing the brake lights not to work??

It could be the turn signal switch, since the brake wire travels through the turn switch after it leaves the brake switch and then goes to the bulbs. That is how you get a steady brake light on one side, and a blinking light on the turning side. The rear turn signal lights and brake lights share the same filament in the bulbs (and the same wire). The wire on the turning side has to first travel through the flasher relay.
If you have a test light, first check for power out of the brake light switch with the pedal depressed. Then check for power in and power out at the turn switch connector-power in on the brake light wire and power out on either of the wires going to the rear bulbs-if no power out, the turn switch is bad-brake pedal still depressed so you still have the signal.

My running lights work my turn signals work why don't my brake lights

You either have a bad brake light switch or a bad fuse that powers your brake lights. Go to your fuse panel and check the fuse first. If it checks good then check the brake light switch. The switch will be located on the brake pedal at the top. There should be two wires into the switch. One will have power at all times. as you depress the brake pedal it makes the connection in the switch to the other wire which then sends power to the brake lights and illuminates the bulbs. Use an electrical tester to make sure you have power in and power out when the brake pedal is depressed.

All brake lights on my 307 have stopped working at once what could be the problem

Hi,

This is caused by one of two things.

1) Blown fuse - check the fuse box for the fuse that controls the brake circuit. Replace as necessary.

2) Bad brake switch - If the fuse is not blown this indicates a faulty brake switch on the brake pedal itself. This will need to be replaced.

Thanks for using FixYa.

1998 ford escort wagon brake lights out. bulbs and fuses changed.

Sounds like your brake light switch has gone bad. It is located on your brake pedal and is easy to change and relatively inexpensive. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!

Brake lights on my accord 2005 wont work with new bulbs

The brake lights are activated when you depress the brake pedal.  When depressed the brake light switch, which is located on the brake pedal level, allows the circuit to be complete.  Check for power on one side of switch then depress pedal and see if it allows power to other side of switch.  Keep me posted
