Locked out of my merc e230 1998. can't open bonnet or doors. only boot. how do i get inside? help
SOURCE: Bonnet latch will not open and bonnet is in closed position
the cable connecting the handle to the latch is broken. remove the front grille and access the latch assembly. you will be able to release by hand and then replace the cable.
SOURCE: ant open bonnet
Hopefully the cable has not snapped. Have someone else lean on the bonnet a little. (Not too much or you will dent it) Try and operate the catch while they are leaning and releasing. Or sometimes dust can accumulate on the catch. Perhaps you can spray under the bonnet with a can of WD40 and hit the catch. Try the above trick again after you have sprayed it. Once you get it open find the cause before you close it again :)

the bonnet is held down with a spring thats constantly under tension. to get the bonnet open you have to remove one side of the tension where the spring connects to the slam panel. put your hand in the grille and feel for where the spring goes into the slam panel, and use something like a tyre lever put through the grille hole to pop the spring away from the slam panel, thus releasing the tension. you should be able to just pull the bonnet up. my corsa has just done the same thing and this is the only way i could get into it.

If indeed the bonnet cannot be opened from inside the car, then you are going to have to climb under or figure out how to get to the latch under the bonnet and open it. Hard pain in the rear but its the only way
depends on the age of vehicle but many vehicles do not have one anymore ,mtheir should be a sticker in the front door frame with the homoglonation number and the chassis number with the weights ,all europeon made vehicles will have this ,but to check the vehicle for the annual mechanical inspection then the number stamped in chassis is checked which on a merc is normally under the bonnet ,but some models its in the boot to the right of the spare wheel --
