I had an issue with losing drive, has reverse but fluid level was low and topped it off and seemed to be ok but a week later after driving around for a few hours or soit done it again. Do you know what could be wrong if it is the trans. or could it be transfer or what? please and thank you for your advice!

Change Oil in transfer case (AWD) make sure refill ith GM trnsfer case oil may have to be done twice to flush out old gfrease trhat the older or original oil builds up slude orbecomes harden over time Alos make sure you chane both frt & rear Differential (not the rear end oil)but you can do that to it won't hurt had similar noise coimg from mine but dealer cost a lot more i had mine down at Jiffy Lube shop and made sure they did transfer case twivce because that was the recogmendation of GM procedure .That what dealer told me but i didn't want to pay around $400.

Unhook your battery (neg terminal), let it sit for ten minutes, then start the car and let it run for two minutes without touching anything. This resets the computer, I had a Buick that required this about three times a year, fixed it every time. If this isn't your problem, is is getting progressively worse? Look at the coil, it may need to be replaced. Of course, make sure your air cleaner is clean. Do you have any codes in your computer? Go to one of the discount auto parts stores they will read it for free. Of all the sensors, it may be the mass airflow sensor, look atr this link, it is located in air delivery system connected to your air cleaner housing. If you pull it out DON'T BREAK THE WIRES IN IT, but you can sometimes clean them with denatured alcohol and a Q-tip.

If your getting gas and spark get an obd 2 scan tool and check your mass air flow sensor. I had the same problem. If your having a problem with this vehicle always check the computer first; it will save you tons of headaches later.

You have a bad crankshaft position sensor. When the thermostat opens on warmup, the auxiliary air pump starts up momentarily which causes a quick dip in battery voltage and drops the output from the crankshaft rotation sensor. the computer thinks the engine is not running and shuts down the fuel. If idling, engine will die, if moving sometimes will just hiccup.
