1994 740 I BMW- Air conditioning is not very cool--could this be a fuse?

A malfunctioning coolant fan may cause overheating and no AC operation . Does the fuel pump fuse immediately blow ?

If the temperature control is on cool....sounds like you have other problems with AC. ( compressor not working, needs R134,) Check under the hood for a box that has fuses in it, their are also relays in it. Look for the relay marked AC.

First things first.....You must have the air conditioning system hooked up to an a/c system machine and then checked for leaks and also read low and high side pressures. If there are leaks then low Freon (R134a) content and low refrigerant oil can cause the a/c system to not engage the a/c compressor which basically means you will not have proper defrost functionality nor regular air conditioning. Most shops, when working with your air conditioning, will install air conditioning dye to assist them in locating leaks and is the first step in diagnosing all a/c systems. Change the micro filters and get the air con re-charged.

I had this problem before. There could be several reason.

1-Your air conditionner filter could be soo old and dirty, that you don"t get that good air condition.

2-Your air cond compressor could be giving low pression and so, no cool air.

3- You could be having a leak somewhere and so you're loosing gaz after it's filled.

4- Check also the fuse box. Seee if the AC fuse is not burnt.
