Can't Close Electric Window

This is not a 1989 but that's all the site would let me enter.
It's a 1986 Olds 88 Custom Cruiser 9 Passenger Wagon
I'm trying to save this classic wagon but the batteries gone and the alternator's missing!
The rear window's cracked open and duct taped but I'd like to close it!
Is there an easy way to jump it to close the window without the battery and alternator in the car?

Well, park a car in front of it, use a set of jumper cables and hook them up to your wagons batter cables you'll get power to roll up that window. although, if it's taped, i would assume there's something wrong with the window motor.

Auto windows not working on driver and passenger side front

This could be an issue with corrosion of the relay between the switch and the motor (little black box).

Sometimes the glue that holds the motor's "piston" to the window will stop working, and the "piston" will slip off the window, causing the window to stick in the down position as well. As long as your doors are apart, you might want to check that too.

For the windows to work, you may need to find a new relay, or possibly a new motor. They can burn out or have other problems in excessive heat/use/age. The GOOD news is that pretty much every salvage yard will have 4 or 5 1987-1991 Oldsmobiles sitting around, so you can steal the parts for next to nothing. Also, Buick LeSabres (also 1987-1991) are almost identical to the 88's, so you can use those for parts too!

Best of luck!

Car: 1989 Subaru GL Wagon AWD Problem: Passenger power window doesn't work solutions that failed: Remove interior door panels and check electric cables- cables were good and don't have electricity....

Violethaze, (someone used all of the purple haze?) You're real close. If the window operates from the main switch at the drivers seat then you probably have dirty contacts on the pass. switch.
If this is the case then take the panel off again, remove the switch from the panel and carefully remove the top from the electrical portion. Don't lose the spring! Remember - they put it together so it will come apart using the special tool #002 (Pocket screw driver). These are non-serviceable parts but I've cleaned lots of them. After you get the switch apart, you'll see the brass teeter-totter (TT) pieces with the contacts attached to them. Clean the TT contacts with an emery board and scratch the corrosion from the other contacts with your special tool. Lube it, snap it back together, plug it back into the wiring and test it before the final re-assembly.
Hope this helps
