Ugh idling on a 2001 saab 95 - throttle body?

The car runs well except when idling at lights or in traffic and occasionally on cruise at say 110Km/hr. During the rough idling the engine misses and coughs perhaps missing on several cylinders and nearly dies. It seems to be worse on short journeys in summer and when it gets hot in traffic. The computer shows no fault and the idle speed has been lifted to no affect. It does seem to be getting progressively worse. Can you help.

localwonder - thanks for the advice. Checking the internet suggests 9 possible causes (vacuum pipes, Direct ignition unit(DI), Throttle body (TB), mass air flow sensor, low oil pressure sensor, O2 ensor, fuel pump, Coolent temp sensor, Map sensor (what ever that is) idle air control valve. Yours is a new one. I will go armed to my mechanic tomorrw! But cam't possibly replace one after the otheruntil its fixed, where do you start? Cheers.

Hi, the valve springs are bad in this vehicle. this is causing the misfire. this is quite hard for the CPU to pick up. normally, the cam sensor will at times.

Vehicle stalling at traffic stop like im about to run out of gas

Start with the simple and replace your fuel filter and clean your throttle body, When cleaning your throttle body pay attention to your IAC (Idle Air Control) valve passage way with is located on the back side to your throttle body air intake barrel.
Just follow the instructions on the spray can of throttle body cleaner and be safe. This should address your stalling issues from a dirty IAC valve.
Thank you for suing Fixya and be safe.

On my 2001 olds aurora 4 liter engine when I come to stop at traffic light low oil pressure light comes on until I bring RPM's up,is there a way to increse idling?

Sounds like your oil pump is bad - I'd have that checked. You can adjust throttle via the screw on the throttle line (look for the intake and there should be somthing resembling a bicycle cable going to the round throttle body). Tighter = higher idle. Fix the cause as soon as possible as this can destroy your engine quickly.

Myster Diagnosis?!

spray fuel into the throttle body and see if it stays running, then if it does ,suspect your fuel pump.
here are some other possibilities, and what you should do is a scan to see what code triggered the check engine light.....iac(idle air controller),throttle position sensor, crank or cam sensor, plugged catalytic converter, defective air flow meter, bad ignition module
