I have a land rover discovery ii se7 i have a vibration which i thought as tires unbalanced but that wasnt it so could it be u-joints or wheel bearings i have 92,000 miles on it
It vibrates with cruise control on and going uphill it goes away when you turn off cruise or go down hill it only does thiswhen on hwy dont notice in town

Hi welcome main problems are the abs valves causing the 3 dash lights (search 3 amigos online) a really badly sited compressor can cause air suspension models to fail giving the bags a slow leak the V8 is a solid engine but can have radiator expansion tank and cap failures
the other issue is electrics windows and door looms are problematic
Depending on the vibration the speed you mention is when drive shaft vibrations are evident. Check all "U" joints for wear,check slip joints for wear especially the front shaft.Check wheel alignment for castor problems and check the steering shocky ( if fitted)

Your guess is good: most likely your CV joints are worn. It isn't usually a safety issue at first, because they start getting noisy and vibrate. If you want, inspect the rubber flex boots that cover and seal the CV joints. If you see any tears , or grease leaking out, that would indicate that they are due to be replaced, as dirt and grime has gotten into them.
you've got to jack the vehicle up and rock the tire/wheel assembly back and forth from right to left, as if being turned by the steering wheel while you look to see which joints are loose. if there's clunking, it will be very loose and obvious just by looking. sometimes though you've got to put your hand on the joint to feel for play.
I have responded to this problem in the past. 2001 discos had an ACE (Active Cornering Enhancement) option. ACE vehicles had an additional hydraulic pump for the system therefore ACE vs Non_ACE cars require different belts.
