2001 kia sportage- window problem ? bad safety lock

I just bought a 2001 kia sportage. The passenger and rear windows won't go up or down with their individual controls but will with the drivers controls. I tried the child safety window switch but they don;t work with it in either position. Can it be a bad switch on the child safety lock?

Try the settings on t he drivers door, you can turn off the passenger window controls there, maybe they are off.

SOURCE: 2001 Kia Sportage: 3 of the 4 windows will not

I have a 99 Kia Sportage that had the exact same problem. You can fix the switches without having to spend ANY money to replace them! You first have to remove the door panel. Disconnect the wires going to the switch and then remove the switch from the panel. Remove all the screws from the botoom of the switch, including the ones holding the metal clips. Then carefully pry each side upwards from the locking tabs and pull the switch apart. BE CAREFUL not to lose the little metal rockers inside the switch! Now all you have to do is clean all the contacts and rockers with a brass wire brush, or fine sanpaper, (or even a good ink eraser will work). Then put the switch back together, reinstall it, and test it out! You'll be back in business and didn't spend a dime! I did this with my 98 Ford Windstar, too.

SOURCE: my passenger rear window will go down but not up

Thru much testing we have found this problem to be relative to the lock out at the master switch. Have not figured it exactly but when the master switch for the rear passenger window is held in the up position the rear works just fine up and down. The only wire diff on that side is the lock out. Still testing, may be that wire shorted to the body or the master switch may just be bad or wired incorrectly.

On my 2001 kia sportage the back two windows won't go down and the right front window is stuck halfway up

make sure power windows lock out switch on driver side not on position, that will cause power windows not work or you have faulty power window relay.

My passenger window won't go up or down

This is a 2006 Infiniti G35 , window will not go up or down,
Grab glass and see if you can move the window down or up by hand, if you can then you have a bad window regulator, if glass will not move then you may have a bad motor, also make sure that the window lock button is not on, to be sure it is not on operate rear windows and they should work.

My 2005 kia spectrum passenger front window goes down but not up.i have replaced motor and no luck. what should i do?

You only replace a motor if it quits

It is a DC Motor & will run in either direction

Did you apply power to the old motor or replace
a perfectly good motor?

If it goes down & not up,wouldn't you conclude that
the switch is bad, in the up position?

Hello, we bought a kia sportage 2001 and we have no idea how to open the hatchback...I know it sounds silly but we can't open it. thanks

I believe (if this is the tail gate style) you need to insert the key and turn it so that the window goes down then open it from the inside. Toyota 4Runners are the same way. keep me posted.
