I have a 1996 Buick LeSabre LTD. 3.8L automatic. The problem I am having is with the cruise control. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The cruise light on the dash comes on regardless if the cruise works or not. Once it does work, it will hold speed until I put my foot on the brake or turn cruise off. So there is no problem with it not maintaining cruise. It seems that when it doesn't work, if I pull over and shut the car off and turn it back on, the cruise will then work. Kinda got me puzzled given the fact the dash dhwos cruise in on and its not. So I don't think it is in the switch, or the light would not come on.

I am describing the procedure for the "On/Off" switch, I did not try the one you mention. Buy the switch anywhere ( about $15 ), then use a sharp tool ( small knife, screwdriver, anything ) to gently pry the old one from its socket. It is not glued or screwed in or anything, just squeezed tightly in the socket. Once the switch is out, pull the cable, connect it to the new one, insert back in the socket and press gently. No force necessary, it comes out easily.

no not a fuse may be the switch itself this is common and parts are not badly priced. replace the switch. It just pops out. The directions will tell you to take out the airbag first but it will sneek out of there.

Yes it's on the right side othe transmission just above the passenger side cv axle. You most likley need to send the cluster off and have it checked. Model Electronics in NY.

have a look at the cruise control cable that goes next to your throttle cable next to your throttle body for looseness

You are talking about the sensor the detects if the vehicle is going fast enough (over 27mph) to enable cruise control?
ok, I had the autozone code the computer. It was clean, nothing came back in the OBD2 scantool. Any Ideas?
Found out my Cruise Control Module was faulty. Replaced it and it works like a charm!
i think there is a brake cut off switch on the brake pedal arm. maybe it's sticking shut.
No, there is a vehicle speed sensor (VSS) that tells your computer exactly how fast the car is going so it can determine what to tell your car to do. One of them is for your crusie control operation. Some are in the transmssion, some are at a wheel. You should get a fault code from your computer if it is malfunctioning. Call your local auto store and ask if they do free scans. A lot do.
maybe you are losing the vehicle speed input to the computer
