The amount of Drain from On-Star is Extremely Minimal, You probably have another drain that is causing your drain. I would Troubleshoot that drain. A drain of 50mA is acceptable

Does the OnStar fuse also run the radio, DVD and/or mapping?

OnStar doesn't have a named fuse. The Radio and Infotainment System are two separate fuses. You need a good auto-electrician to find the source of the parasitic draw, not find a way around it. You can test it yourself. Put an ammeter on the battery and pull one fuse at a time while someone observes the ammeter. Pulling one fuse will be the cause of the drain and show a drop in discharge. That is the circuit where the issue it. There is always a small amount of drain from the ECM, clock, security system etc.

Red light on radio keeps flashing and battery drains overnight on 2002 sonoma gls

That red light is on many vehicles and does not drain a battery that fast. You probably have another draw on the system. I recently had a car that the battery would go down in a few days, found out it was coming from the Onstar system malfunctioning.

How to change cam shaft sensor on 1997 5.7 1500 chev truck

Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement (5.0L, 5.7L)

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

For Vehicles equipped with OnStar® (UE1) with Back Up Battery:

The Back Up Battery is a redundant power supply to allow limited OnStar® functionality in the event of a main vehicle battery power disruption to the VCIM (OnStar®module). Do not disconnect the main vehicle battery or remove the OnStar® fuse with the ignition key in any position other than OFF. Retained accessory power (RAP) should be allowed to time out or be disabled (simply opening the driver door should disable RAP) before disconnecting power. Disconnecting power to the OnStar® module in any way while the ignition is On or with RAP activated may cause activation of the OnStar® Back-Up Battery (BUB) system and will discharge and permanently damage the back-up battery. Once the Back-Up Battery is activated it will stay on until it has completely discharged. The BUB is not rechargeable and once activated the BUB must be replaced.

  6. Install the rotor onto the reluctor wheel.

    Tighten:

Tighten the screws to 1.5-2.4 [n-m] (13-22 lb in)

Battery drain overnight

Usually if battery is good. Its usually a parasitic drain. You can use a standard multimeter, and put across each fuse top. Two little tips. If you see a voltage even a little bit. That's a drain. Find what fuse go's too. And diagnose.

Remove alternator on 99 eldorado norhtstar

Okay, i will start by saying this is a job that should only be done by someone who works on cars, first thing first is if your car has onstar you must disable the back up onstar battery, if power is removed the back battery will be turned on and run until it drains out and then will need to be replaced , does not matter if you reconnect battery quickly. so first make sure key is off and out of ignition next open driver door , leave open , dissconnect battery, this way the back onstar battery is not turned on.

With that done you will next remove the belt then remove the front alternator bolt.then you will need to drain and remove the radiator, next you will need to raise and support car, remove front splash sheild, next loosen rear alternator bracket from engine.

Remove top bolt, front lower mounting bolt and lower rear mounting bolt, remove upper rear mounting bolt.
Remove air duct from rear of alternator. Disconnect wiring from alternator. next remove front alternator/ A/C bracket. rotate alternator and remove. To install reverse procedure .
GOOD DAY.
