Low oil pressure at idle

1990 F150 5.0 liter oil pressure guage is steady when engine is cold. After warmed up the oil pressure guage drops when engine rpm gets below 1000. Check engine light comes on also. Engine still sounds fine,no knocking. Where should I start to look? Thanx Jeff

2000 GMC Savanna, oil pressure guage drops to

You need to pull the pressure sensor and install a manual test gage, (borrow from Autozone or other chain part store) that is the only way to verify the engine is not loosing oil pressure.

OIL PRESSURE LOW...i CHANGED OIL AND PRESSURE IS FINE UNTIL JEEP GETS WARM AND WHILE IDLEING PRESSURE DROPS TO ZERO AND CHEK GUAGE LIGHT COMES ON.dID THE SAME BEFORE OIL AND FILTER CHANGE.

How many miles are on the engine? Have you tried to replace the oil pressure switch? is the engine making any type of noise due to low pressure reading?

2001 camaro 3800 eng. when eng is cold oil pressure is high after warms up oil pressure drop very low at idle. why??

When the engine and oil are cold it will show a high pressure because of the viscosity of the oil. When it warms up the oil is thinner. If it doesn't drop below 20-25 psi at warm idle I wouldn't worry about it as that is normal.

Vw 1992 oil pressure drops when warmed up oil pressure switch was replaced still have same prblem light comes on at idle and goes off when engine speed is increased

Hook up a manual oil pressure guage and take readings of the actual amount of oil pressure in the engine. It may be that the switch is bad even though it is new. It may also be that you have low enough oil pressure at idle to trip the switch. On my 2.0 liter the low oil switch turns on at 4.4 PSI at idle but when the engine is revved up it turns on below 26 PSI. You may also have 2 oil pressure switches, one for low and one for high. They would be located very close together on the oil filter housing. Make sure you replaced the right switch.
You want to get this straightened out quickly as VW engines are very unforgiving when you put off repairs. Hope this helps.

Theres a sound on the top head and it sounds like lifters. also it wont boost and the oil pressure is low, very low, can i get help with this please

Lifers will rattle if oil pressure is low. Have you screwed in an oil pressure guage to check. Should read about 20 psi at idle and 40-60psi above idle.
Causes are nemerous from low oil level to worn out engine. You dont mention mileage. Normally very good engines.

No oil pressure at idle once motor warm

Re-new the engine oil and see if the problem persists.
Low oil pressure at idle is usually a sign of a worn motor - worn camshaft and crank bearings allowing excessive oil to pass.

Oil pressure drops to zero after warmed up or below 2700 RPM

Check the oil pressure with a test guage, if the finding are the same, the look at your oil filter, pump, pickup, or pressure relief valve.....

Not knowing what weight oil your useing but 60# cold is not bad in fact its perty near normal. Its how far it drops when it warms up is where the concern should be.
