Driving home one day the truck started acting funnny then the power died. replaced the battery now the truck will start but has a rough idle when you give it fuel it boggs out then dies. no codes are comming up, also replace air filter as the truck smells like gas alot almost like it floods itself out. checked all cylinders for good spark and they are all fine no issue there. sometimes when the truck stays running for a few seconds it will also backfire then die.
What engine ? 4.3 , 4.8 , 5.3 or 6.0 l What fuel injection system ? What is the fuel pressure ? Do you know what fuel trims are ? The fuel pressure regulator's are prone to leaking to leaking on thses SPI injection system./

have you checked out your fuel filter? I had my 2003 denali do the same type of problem and it turned out to be a very dirty fuel filter.

Like to other guy said, give it a tuneup. Also try SEAFOAM to clean carb up of slug. Also check to make sure the butter fly for the choke has not come loose, causing it the choke it down. Failed choke pull-off.

maybe your iac valve is not working? it takes place of a choke or temp sender to computer could be bad which controls t I.A.C. known as the idle control valve,do you have any codes?

take out your mass airflow sensor located on air intake pipe and clean with brake cleaner also is your engine light on?
