EGR or TPS problem

my geo storm shut down on me while driving and it wouldnt start again and i had it towed home to find out that the timing belt snapped!! And another time it shut down was my alternator went out and it ran my battery dead!! Hope this helps you,good luck!!

Valve clearance SOHC

Intake .006 in.
Exhaust .010 in.

Adjustments made with engine cold.

Get a voltmeter, place the positive lead on the lug off of the alternator, or on the pos. battery terminal when running. ground to chassis or body. ALTERNATOR VOLTAGE: 13.5 or higher at 1500RPM is minimum

check on and IAC (Idle Air Control) motor or cleaning the trottlebody with throttle body cleaner.

Had one a Few Years back. You need to Change out the Starter and Solinoid. They come together with the New one. This will fix it for ya!

check for vacumn leaks, hoses, and intake. check idle air control valve for proper operation, if you have check engine light run codes by shorting diagnotic terminal and turn ignition to run. Should flash any codes in system.

This may be a series problem.

you may have turned too many rmps and warped a piston which would cause the piston to actualy hit your valve, or while turning too many rpms you may have caused the valve to "float" which would mess it up

unfortunately there are many things that can cause this and unless you are a relatively inclined mechanic it is hard to figure out the exact problem but ut could be your relay or your distributor
