Take some out thorughe the oil pan bolt and then check level again. Overfilling engine oil can create problems on engine's lubrication system.

Have straight 6 95 laredo. Ok after oil change at jiffy lube it stalls . took it back said everything fine. Still waked. Straight back from oil cap it appears to be leaking oil on top at a black rubber...

It is called a PCV valve. Go to autozone, O'rieilly or other parts store and buy a new one. It is about $5.00 and easy to change. The grommet on yours has dried out and may be cracked causing leak.. I would also check the oil level to ensure that it is not overfilled, which will cause the leak and engine damage.

I recently overfilled my engine oil in my 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP about a quart when I noticed it I immediately drain the oil pan and the oil plug dripper will this mess up my car.?

Drain out the excess oil and make sure that it has the proper amount of oil in it and you will be fine. Overfilling oil can cause whipping of the oil when the crankshaft hits the oil in an overfilled engine. This can cause air to be introduced into the engines lubercation system. Even of you ran the engine, all you would need to do is wait a couple of hours, drain the excess, check the level, top off as needed and then check it again in a few days.

Local oil change shop did 20% overfill on 2.0L engine... Now nothing but problems. Engine spewed oil everywhere. Couldn't find any leaks. Now overheated x1, and low bass-like sound. (Fried?)

Few engines of my experience would be damaged by only a 20% overfill. The capacity of a typical 2.0 litre engine is around 5 litres so a 20% overfill would make only 1 litre above maximum.
As the engine would be designed to have additional oil pan capacity and probably be baffled to cope with oil swill during cornering and braking, while an extra 1 litre MIGHT make a bit of a mess it would be unlikely to have any lasting adverse effect unless it entered the intake via the breather system when it could seriously shorten the life of the oxygen sensor and CAT.

Lots of folk have topped up their oil without reference to the dipstick and raised the level by far more than your own without ill effect...
Lots of folk have topped up their oil and forgotten to replace the oil cap and had oil spewed everywhere but after a good wash down, an oil top up and a new cap the problem is ended.

We once had an apprentice who was told to fill an engine with oil and he did, literally and to the very top. It started and ran for a short time but sustained no damage.

The obvious conclusion is they actually overfilled the engine by a great deal more than 20% and/or they perhaps caused another problem and/or the law of sod conspired with events and you are a victim of coincidence.

An engine must be carefully washed down in order to have a fighting chance to locate an oil leak but then any leak should become fairly obvious. While the low bass-sound is the typical sound of an engine without an oil filler or with an open or detached crankcase breather, I can think of no connection between the overfill and any resulting mess and the overheating.

If you paid a repair shop to perform a service, you made a contract with them. If the service wasn't performed satisfactorily they are in breach of their contract with you. You should return the car to them and tell them to put it right free of charge. A respectable repair shop would be pleased to do that.

Iv got a toyota duet i serviced everything but wont stop smoking wat could be the problem? What's your question?

Depends on what color smoke...

Blue smoke means oil in the engine, could be overfilled oil, bad rings, or a leak in the break boost system.

White smoke usually means water in the engine, blown head gasket.

I change oil in my nissan titan v8 and after the engine started smokeing what do we do to stop the smoke.

if the smoke is coming from the engine bay, check for spilt oil or an oil leak, especially on the exhaust. clean/fix this and the smoke should stop.

if it is coming from the exhaust, check you have used the correct grade of oil (too thin oil may bypass oil seals slightly) and you have not overfilled the engine and this can cause internal pressure, causing oil to bypass the seals, or even blow oil seals completely. overfilling will also damage the catalytic converter.

I changed the oil on my 2008 nissan sentra 2.0

You should use the viscosity oil recommended in your owner's manual. Using a heavier weight oil can affect your fuel economy. If you overfilled the engine with oil, drain out a quart. Overfilling with oil will cause the oil to 'foam', and if this happens, you are not getting proper lubrication of components, which can result in damage to your engine.

Blowing oil and smoke

When overfilled, how long before the level was drained back to normal, or was it? The problem with overfilling, is that the oil will 'foam' and not lubricate properly. This can result in serious engine damage. So, make sure it's at the proper level now, if it is, I believe the engine was damaged due to lack of proper lubrication. Wish I had better news. Good luck.

Mercedes SLK230 overfilling oil warning

5.6 liters here in the UK, could be a faulty sensor but try the oil first, easy enough to drain, jack up the rear passenger side so it gets all the oil out when draining.

I have a 2004 Toyata Highlander that occasionally gets an oil overfill from the dealership. On the dipstick (after the car has been running) marks halfway between the full mark and the double cutouts...

Check the oil with the engine warm & off. An accidental overfill of 1/2 quart will not hurt the engine. BUT, 2-3 quarts overfull will result in issues, and I would recommend draining that overfill out. But, 1/2 quart is really nothing to worry about.
