SOURCE: 1995 Honda Civic fuel gauge always shows full.

Well, theres a sending unit/float in the tank that sends a signal thru wires to your instrument cluster's fuel gauge. You should have an auto electric repairperson determine where your problem lies. It's not often the needle's just 'stuck' to where you could dislodge it. More often, it's pegged overfull or underempty-signaling a shorted component upstream of the gauge.

Similar problem and found the solution:
In the back of the gauge, where the 2 coils are located, there are very tiny copper wires which connect all the resistors/diodes. they each travel from within the coil and are soldered to 3 out of the 4 mounting pins. if any of these wires are shorting out or disconnected, the gauge will malfunction.

- take the gauge and flip upside down
- temp gauge has 1 resistor (blue) and 1 diode (copper)
- fuel gauge has 2 resistors, no diodes
- 1 wire should be attached to bottom mounting pin (letter E for EMPTY)
- 1 wire should be attached to pin holding both resistors (half tank)
- 1 wire should be attached to the stand-alone ground pin (no mounting bracket)

Hope that helps!

My 1995 Honda civic dash cluster went out

sounds like your instrument cluster went bad, try a salvage yard and install a used cluster, normal price is $100.00 to $150.00, also might check on ebay

fuel gauge is part of the gauge cluster most likely the problem is in the sending unit in the gas tank or wiring between that and the gauge

Camry or Prelude for mechanic school?

I would be a bit leary of the Prelude, if it's loosing anti-freeze. Could be a blown head gasket or an anti freeze leak. Honda's are generally great cars for traveling and there alot of aftermarket performance parts for Preludes. Definately investigate the use of anti-freeze.

Just bought a used 1995 Honda Prelude and the Tach and speedometer work along with the clock but I can't see any other gauges. (Gas, oil, temp and whatever else might be there. What is the problem?

Since you just bought the car, I thought that you might not be aware of the instrument lighting control. I apologize if you know this:
The dial on the dashboard to the left of the instrument panel controls the brightness of the instrument panel lights. Turn the dial to adjust the brightness.
To reduce glare at night, the fuel and temperature gauges dim when you turn on the parking lights or headlights. You then adjust their brightness when you adjust the instrument panel brightness. Turn the dial up as far as it will go to return the fuel and temperature gauges to their daytime brightness.
Hope it's that simple.

95 prelude -- dash lights for speedometer and tach are out

Just fixed this myself. I found a used USDM meter/gauge out of a 1995 SI on EBAY for $200. However, I have a VTEC engine that redlines at 7500 RPM and the SI's redlines at 6500 RPM. Easy to fix by swapping the face plates inside of the meter/gauge. If your issue is the bulbs they cost a lot... around $250 each. But if your lights went out simultaneously then the bulbs are not the issue... it's the power supply where the bulbs plug into and that's located behind the drivers dash speaker (very easy to remove with only two screws holding it in). This part is more expensive at around $350, but cheaper than buying two bulbs. Scroll through every page of honda prelude listings on EBAY and you may just get lucky like I did. Hope this helps.
