Remove black plastic relay cover in plastic underhood fuse box and activate relay1992 LS 400 Lexus. Car wouldn't start. New - 9006980.jpg with a very small screwdriver and ignition on. If starts, obviously the starter is fine, if not the starter is indeed bad and needs replacement so hold onto your ankles cuz it's gonna hurt.

1992 lexus ls400 wants to start wont crankover would it be a ignition problem

Check battery first........connectiions at battery and under vehicle at starter......You need a testlight
to check for power at starter when you try to start it....(2 man operation).....If you dont have power at starter when turning switch more than likely switch or relay is bad....More than likely have a faulty starter / battery / or bad connection

My 1992 Lexus won't start. Just replaced the battery and that helped for awhile, now it won't start. Sometimes I can fiddle with it and get it to start. But this time it acts like its dead. WHat's the...

The problem could be the contacts in the solenoid. The starters are not that expensive but to getting to it is very extensive. It is under the intake manifold. I had been having problems with my ls 400 (1990 with 275K miles) engaging the for quit some time and milked it out as long as I could.

sounds like you need a new alternator but I would replace battery cables and probably the battery as well.

Battery not charging with new battery and alternator.

Make sure battery posts and cables are clean and tight, same thing for connections at the alternator and starter. Use a voltmeter to test for parasitic draw. Attach meter between positive post and positive cable (cable disconnected), with meter set on amps, and pull fuses one by one until you locate the circuit.
