SOURCE: what would cause slack in my timing chain
Not sure which engine this is,but if it has a chain,it most likely has a tensioner,either spring loaded or oil pressure fed.(if you dont see oil everywhere,it's probably spring loaded).These tensioners usually wear out before the chain breaks,but you'll want to replace both at the same time.If the engine was still running decent untill you shut it off,then there shouldn't be any other damage.
