Use a compression tester. if it has no compression then the chain is broken. if the engine turns over fast then its broke

Hey take a look @ the lines coming from the bottom of the radiator . Tighten both lines @ each end of the radiator to stop leaks ... Also while your under there check to see if your oil sensor is leaking right on to your exhaust ... causing a lil smoke by the drip .

SOURCE: Oil leak?

1999 and you hear lifters - so , this is normal.
How can it sound like it's out of oil? Do you know that sound of a car out of oil - it stops.

Make sure the oil level is correct. To much is as bad as to little.

2000 WJ 4.7 V8 Leaking or bad Timing Cover. How to tell? What would you see - a leak or? Thanks

Clean the cover and around it and then monitor it with frequent checks. You should get an idea of where the oil is leaking from or at least if it is from the cover.
Oil circulates inside the timing chain cover. A V8 will likely have three chains or belts, maybe more. I am pretty sure that engine employs chains which require lubrication and as such could be leaking oil from around the timing chain cover seal.

My 1999 lincoln continental is Pi**ing out all the oil I put in as I put it in. Not from the oil pan at all. I think its the front crankshaft seal.

first you have to check out to find what is leaking oil. get the engine shampooed first to check for were the oil is leaking out.

My 95 chevy van smells like its burning oil and smokeing out the tail pipe

Sounds like you may have a huge oil leak, this is a common problem if the chain is not done correctly on the chevy V6 or V8 engine. Go under and look, bet oil is all over the place and getting on the exhaust.

i think you need to take the oil pan back off and take a good look at the rod bearings, this engine sounds a lot like upper end noise when the piston is hitting the bottom of the cylinder head because a rod bearing has spun.

I have oil leaking onto my crank sensor, can you help me know where it's coming from? my car is a 95, lincoln con

could be from the intake manifold or cam seal behind the timing cover. It's also possible
the valve cover gaskets are leaking or the front main seal is leaking. Might try cleaning engine with a good degreaser and see where the leaks originate. Good luck
