Need to replace transmission line to the cooler on a GMC Sierra

The transmission cooler lines are rotted out, and need to replace them. Is it a hard Job? Do you need to replace the tube connections and the oil cooling rad as well.

How Hard is it to remove the fittings , on the transmission and the rad? Do you have to be on a hoist to repair it? Do you have to drain the transmission? Do you have to remove the front grill to get at the rad? Any photo's of the repair?

Its fairly easy, you dont have to replace the fittings at the cooler. if they are leaking up at the cooler, it needs to be replaced, but if not, its just simple line to line, not too long of a process

please rate well! hope this gives you the info you needed!

it should be totally visible from underneath the vehicle, and its only spring clamps usually that hold them on, unless its metal lines, then it may require a special spring release tool thats cheaply available at any parts store. if its rubber lines, its a clamp.

unfortunately i dont have a photo, im sorry to let ya down on that one!

they are aluminum lines connected to a metal clamp and the spring lock is inside and we have the right tool to release the spring but i was wondering if there is any tips that you have on how to correctly get the spring to release

Replace lower oil cooler line

Basically give the vehicle a transmission oil change with a new filter and gasket. Once oil and pan are removed remove old line with appropriate flare wrench. install new one , replace filter gasket and reinstall pan. Refill with ATF.

Transmission line is leaking on 2005 GMC Sierra

Clean the metal trans lines going from the transmission to the trans
cooler(usually mounted next to or in front of the radiator), then start it
up, to see exactly where the leak is coming from.
