Question about 1989 Chevrolet K1500
Was idleing badly.when in park or neutral it idled fine.put in reverse and shuts off.put in drive n boggs down at stop light.changed plugs, idle plug, wires were new already and seem fine.however when i chenged plugs i bougt platinum and autozone told me they didnt need gaping.gap was 60.old plugs were gapped at 45.went backk to autozone and another guy gave me a dif set of plugs and said gap should b 35.now idles bad in all gears
Always use stock type plugs, that what there called for, some vehicles like yours don't run good on other types. They come set at factory,I always check gap and they are always right. As they say,it ain't broke don't fix it.

Have you changed the fuel pump yet?I had the same exact problem.I replaced my fuel pump with an AUTOZONE PIECE OF JUNK fuel pump. That pump lasted almost 2 days. The second day i had it the truck didnt want to start but it did and it ran like ****,and when i put it in gear it ran as long as I didnt touch that gas pedal. You could go get a fuel pressure test or just replace it,your call. You might want to check your filter too but im sure its the pump.Good luck

It sounds as if you have a small vacuum leak some where in the intake system. Also since you cleaned the throttle body also clean the MAS. It is located between the air filter housing and the throttle body. Hope this helps, rate me highly.

check egr valve for vacuum leak. pull hose from manifold. put hose in your mouth like a straw and **** on it. if the valve moves, then it's good. if it doesn't, you need a new egr valve. WARNING, they are fricking expensive! auto zone price $204. NO JOKE

Check your MAP and TP sensors. Your throttle body may be having trouble determining position and is compensating by adjusting RPMs.
