Pickup idels but will not accelerate when accelerater is pushed but service engine soon light comes on when accelerator is pushed
If you can find away to read the codes you will probably find that it has a bad throttle position sensor

Check your TPS Throttle positioning sensor. Sounds like it has a dead spot in it or it is failing. May also be a wiring harness issue or loose connection at TPS too! If its intermittent then it will soon go out completely. It should be located on your fuel pedal. Remove it and check it with an ohm meter. Check resistance all the way thru from 0-100 percent. When it is not working it should do nothing and show no resistance. When it is working the resistance value will increase and or decrease as you turn the sensor.

Engine light could mean many thing. There's about a 100 things that can make the light go on.
Best thing to do is go to an autoparts store and have them scan for the trouble code from the on board computer. Many autoparts store will do this for free. They should tell you what the trouble code means and you can start from there.
