Hit a rock and it died
SOURCE: can the inertia switch on
Hi.
The inertia switch is a safety device designed to trip off in case of accident. I know that the switch gives a lot of problems when defective, but it cannot be bypassed by cutting off its circuit. If you cut power to the inertia switch fuel delivery will stop. The switch can be jumped, but that won't be the best thing to do. Reach the switch and try bypassing it manually, it has a button on it. If the switch is defective and trips too easily simply replace it.
If you want to jump the switch contacts, simply join the wires leading to the switch. Do this at your risk, as said the switch is a safety device.
The switch should be located in passenger side of the Jag, near to the passenger footwell. In some model it may be in same location but in driver side area. The switch is protected by a plastic trim. Remove the cover and test the switch by pressing the button on top. The switch is connected to the ECU. As said, I do not think that jumping the switch is a good idea. If it does not work, replace the switch.
