Sounds like a bad fuel pump to me.Or dirty fuel lines/injectors/regulator.

  • Anonymous Apr 04, 2013

i found the problem! the small check valve at the bottom of the fuel pump wasnt opening completly, so i was ok at low speed, the reserve was filling back while runningbut at high speed, it wasnt filling fast enough so i was missing fuel, i took it off and everything is ok now.

SOURCE: Fuel pressure intermittently drops causing sputter and die.

check for 12v constant at your fuel pump if you are not getting that replace your relay.
if you are getting 12 volts at your fuel pump the fuel pump is possible to run tuel it gets warm then shut down to a lower rpm I would then replace the fuel pump

Jeep 96 dies sometime going down the road and wont start sometimes. will start after 10 miles at times and 24 hrs sometimes. the dash says check gauges. help woman alone need advice

Fuel pump intermittent, check for fuel pressure before dropping the tank to renew pump.
Otherwise check electrical connection at battery, and make sure you do not have an open circuit.
Loss of connectivity could cause this issue, failed fuel pump sometimes work, but are not reliable.
You should see 30-45 psi at fuel rail, and the regulator should bump pressure 5 psi when reving the motor. Higher pressure indicates failed regulator.

Car stalls, starts up then stalls again, starts up and stalls again

This could have several problems. #1 Fuel pressure due freezing water in fuel lines add thermal aid or rubbing alcohol . If you have access to a pressure gauge there is a service fitting on fuel rail that you can test pressure while driving and see if the pressure is gone when car dies this could lead to fuel pump electrical or more restricted lines. #2 intermittent sensor failure Mopar uses 2 sensors to control spark and fuel lose one could lose spark lose the other lose injection with a scanner they call it C/C sync ok (cam/crank) if no then check for each parameters for display.# 3 relay controls ASD and FUEL pump for voltage drops.

have a fuel pressure gauge hooked up to it to see if the fuel pump is going bad..sometimes when fuel pumps start to fail the pressure will drop intermittently...this test willl find out if that is the cause

What is the correct fuel pressure on a 96 Dodge grand Caravan?

Don't have access to actual pressure required at this moment but I will tell you that 12-20 psi is definitely not enough. Your probably looking at a minimum of 50-60, and as much as 90-100 depending on what engine. A replacement for a 3.3.L at autozone is rated at 90-100 psi. I'd spend the money on new pump & filter at same time.

Stalling on our 96 Dodge Caravan

Once a filter plugs its pluged. You drop that much pressure its time for a new fuel pump.

Car stalls when oil pressure drops...20 minutes to restart

No it is a fail safe. When your oil pressure drops below (on most cars) 30 psi your computer will shut your fuel pump down until you either let it sit for a while and it resets or until oil pressure builds again. Sorry!
