1984 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe charging light is on. I have a manual for the car, and have checked the following:1. Battery volts/ and connections are ok.2. Drive belts condition and tightness is ok.3. Alternator voltage and condition is ok.There are three different colored wires in a harness going towards the alternator. Two of the colored wires are connected to the alternator. However there is a yellow and black striped wire which has been cut. Do you know if this yellow and black wire should be connected to alternator?
YES the yellow black is for the light circuit, hook it up and buy the way you can get a replacement plug for the alternator at any decent parts house.good job spotting the broken wire have a good day DB
i have the same issue but the wires on the alternator are their and in great shape. The battery is good, as well as the alternator. I'd really like to start driving the car but don't really wanna be stranded on the side of the road. Any and all input helps, thanks in advance.
remove the plug and check to see if it is burnt at all, also check the charge fuse
