My battery light went on, on. My 2003 GMC ENVOY, the message board said "battery not charging" .....I took it to autozone and they said I had a bad alternator which is why it would say battery not charging......I just had my alternator replaced and the light is still on and it still says battery not charging.........what could it be now???

The charging system on your vehicle is Computer controlled . called ( smart charging system )
BATTERY NOT CHARGING
The IPC illuminates the battery not charging indicator in the driver information center when the following occurs:
• The PCM detects that the generator output is less than 11 volts or greater than 16 volts. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM requesting illumination.
• The IPC determines that the system voltage is less than 11 volts or greater than 16 volts. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the body control module (BCM) indicating the system voltage.

The headlights on the envoy are the easiest parts of the car to repair. You just pull the two tabs at the top of the headlights, screw out the bulb containers and you are good to go

No your car will still turn on with a bad cam sensor. Bad crank sensor would cause a no start. What code is popping up with the check engine light?

Battery not charging

Most causes are: bad connection at battery post, corrosion inside connectors where they meet the battery posts. Bad ground connection where negative cable bolts to engine and frame. Bad alternator , take it to another auto parts store or alternator repair shop and have them test it, sort of like having a second doctor's opinion. I'd say the alternator is bad if it has a lot of miles /age on it.

The charging system on your vehicle is controlled by the PCM powertrain control module . The PCM will send a message to the instument cluster on the class 2 serial data network to turn on the charging light if it see's or think;s there is a problem with the charging system . Should have a code stored . Have autozone check for codes.

You need to have your charging system load tested, this can be done at places like AutoZone.

This problem is either one or both of two common problems

The less expensive:
1) your battery terminals are loose and you just need to clean and tighten them.

2)your battery doesn't hold a charge anymore and it will need replacing.
More expensive

3)your alternator is bad and it is no longer charging the battery enough.

you should look into getting this looked at by a trusted mechanic, your car may turn off on you unexpectedly while youre driving if you battery cannot keep up with the demand.

2003 GMC Envoy have no brake lights, only the top light on the gate works, can you help thanks

First and easiest we need to check for power going to the rear lights at the plug that goes into the tail light housing. There is a board that the lights plug into that goes bad. The Envoy uses separate brake and turn bulbs so the 3rd brake and the two side are on the same circuit.

p0128 engine coolant thermostat below operating temp. Possible low on antifreeze. not plugged in, possible chaffed wires.
