ESP/Bas light on. how do I turn it off??? what does it mean
Un hook your battery to reset the computer , if it persits you may have to change the esp sensor keep in mind once you disconnect the battery it will clear your error codes and it can not be read later.
While my 2007 Chrysler 300 was being fixed for an unrelated part, the dealer went ahead and replaced a side air bag that was recalled. When we left dealer, the ABS and the ESP BAS lights both came on. Returned to dealer and they reset the lamps, but as we pulled away above 30 mph, both lights illuminated. Turns out that in their literature, when they replaced the side air bag, there's a caution that these lights may come on and the fix was for them to replace a "clock spring" in the steering column. All under warranty due to the airbag recall (would have cost $600+ quote). The old clock spring was incompatible with the new side airbag.

If it is an error produced by the engine control system, you should be able to clear it using an OBD II reader. OBD=on board diagnostics. You have to find the plug for the unit, but just plug it in and the machine will read it. I usually borrow one from the local car parts store--give an ID and they will let you temporarily borrow it. Make sure you read the error code as well. There may be some interesting info about what produced the error message. Good luck.

try taking battery off for half an hour and retry

Hi, that light comes on when the abs computer detects a malfunction and sets a code. You may try removing battery cables and touching them together, if that does not work, you will definitely need to have the system tested with a scan tool.
