94 Nissan pickup D21 4 cylinder timing problems

If the timing is off on your Nissan pickup D21, here are some steps you can take to fix it:
  1. Before adjusting the timing, make sure that the engine is at top dead center (TDC). This means that the number 1 piston is at the top of its compression stroke. You can verify this by using a piston stop tool or by removing the spark plug for the number 1 cylinder and inserting a long screwdriver or similar tool to feel for the piston.
  2. Once you have verified that the engine is at TDC, you can align the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets. The timing mark on the crankshaft sprocket should be aligned with the mark on the engine block, and the timing mark on the camshaft sprocket should be aligned with the mark on the cylinder head.
  3. Next, reinstall the oil pump shaft and distributor so that they are correctly timed with the engine. The oil pump shaft should be aligned with the mark on the crankshaft, and the distributor rotor should be pointing towards the number 1 cylinder on the distributor cap.
  4. Finally, reassemble the timing chain cover and any other components you removed during the timing adjustment.
  5. After reassembly, start the engine and use a timing light to verify that the timing is correct. If necessary, make small adjustments to the distributor position until the timing is correct.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform these steps, it may be best to take your truck to a professional mechanic to ensure that the timing is set correctly.

Timing procedure for 1992 nissan 4 cyl. d21 2wd manual trans pickup

Timing marks are off. Get access to the crank mark and cam marks. Make sure they are in the right position. Reset them , turn the crank two revolutions by hand and make sure they are still lined up. Not close, but lined up. If off a bit, use a pry bar on the tensioner, tighten up and recheck.

I need to know about a cam belt change on my Isuzu is it straight forward pul out old one and replace with a new one ??

The engine is timed with holes in the drive wheels. Fitst remove the bottom pully 4 12mm screws not the big nut. Remove plastic cover's 10mm screw's. Turn the engine until the mark on the bottom shaft (crankshaft) is at the top.Their are small holes in the drive wheel's with threaded holes behind them in the engine block screw bolts through the holes to keep the drive wheels from turning Relieve the preasure on the tension pully. Remove the old belt replace tighten the tensioner again.
