remove the rearseat back and unscrew the small plate in the center. then remove the plastic guard and flick to the off postion. it looks like a house breaker. then put plastic guard back to prevent acciedental switching.

I have a 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid and have had hell with it. I have also learnt much about it too.

One thing bad about the HCH2, is that the 12V battery controls the electronics, and the Hybrid battery charges the 12V battery. However the 12V battery is not charged all the time, and cannot be charged when the IMA is usually being used, and in different scenarios. (Buy a Electronic volt meter which plugs into the 12V adapter $14 Walmart))

It is possible that the 12V battery is being drained while driving and caused a voltage drop which can cause your problem. In your case, I would change the 12V battery anyway as they do not last long on Hybrids. (You may have to get Honda to trip the IMA warning lights.) In my case, changing the 12v battery helped the hybrid battery as it was the electronics reporting the charge level wrong.

Depending where you live, you will have a minimum 80,000 mile warranty on the hybrid battery.

06 Ford Escape hybrid.12v batt good. Hv batt charged about 10 times with batt charger on 12v batt. turns over for less than 1 sec, dash says "stop safely now", "service soon"and service emission sys"

The hybrid battery doesn't come into play when starting the engine, this really sounds like the 12v battery has lost its ability to crank in other words it can't handle the starter load, this can also be caused by the 12v battery not being charged or cables that are loose, dirty or corroded. I would have the battery load tested, check the cables (both ends) and check the charging system. The lights that are on are controlled by the power train control module which is on the 12v side so you may also want to get the codes read to see if they lead you to the exact problem. I hope this helps. Take care. If you have any more questions for me just send a note or testimonial and it will show up in my email.

2012 Chevy volt service high voltage system 12 volt battery keeps dying.I took it to dealership and they think it's the hybrid battery for 12000 dollars to replace does that sound right.

First is to determine if there is a spurious current leak from the 12 v system. measure the current out of it with a good meter and turn everything off if not already. Start pulling fuses until the source is found and trace that circuit for the issue. The 12V charges from the high volt system if its anything like out Toyota Hybrid. And if it were the HV battery, then charging the 12V one so that you could start should expose a HV battery that shows significant drain from sitting. Does it? Did they verify the inverter (Charges the 12V) is working properly? Think of it as an alternator for hybrids.

My check engine light came on and hasn't turned off yet. I have a 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid with almost 80k miles on it. Also, as I was driving I came to stop and needed to reverse. I put the car in reverse...

your car needs to be diagnosed with an obd2 scanner to determine what is causing the problem. take it

to an autozone autoparts store, they will diagnose it free of charge, give you a print out on whats wrong,

and may even carry the parts you need, once the problem is corrected they can reset your check

engine light with the obd2 scanner. or if you replace what ever it needs you can do a reset by

disconnecting the negative side of the battery wait 30 seconds and then reconnect it.

2006 Honda Accord fuel economy

This sounds very much like an Integrated Motor Assist (IMA Battery) issue. Call the dealer and check if there are any warranty/recall items on it. I've owned my 2000 Honda Insight for 5 years now and it had this issue a couple years back. They replaced a battery control module free of charge and that fixed it. Then earlier this year the battery finally expired after 165,000 miles and 10 years, which is amazing and it was less than $2k for a new one and installation. I love Honda because they stand behind their hybrids.
Otherwise, the good news is all Honda IMA systems will let you continue to drive even if the whole hybrid system has completely failed. If you don't feel like spending the money to get it fixed, don't! By driving with a light foot, avoiding unnecessary hard acceleration and practicing other fuel efficient driving techniques you should be able to get just as good mileage as if the car was new, but just without the extra acceleration kick.
