How do I backflush the radiator/heater core?

I know how to flush a radiator; I'd like to know, however, exactly how I'd perform a reverse flush on my Supra WITHOUT using a flush tee.

Take off the heater hoses at the motor & use
a garden hose to flush in both directions

SOURCE: I am trying to find

I am the master when it comes to MKII Supra's. You dont need a diagram for this all you have to do is locate the 2 hoses on the firewall and then pull the glove box, and the lower panel off on the passenger side. You will have to remove the blower motor as well. But compared to most cars this is one thing on a supra that really isnt too bad to do. If you need a pic of the location let me know. I have my 85 supra apart and I can snap a pic of the heater core if you need it as a diagram.

SOURCE: How do you properly bleed the coolant system on a 1994 Toyota Celica 1.8 stx?

If even possible, it sounds as though your water
pump is not turning the right way

It isn't even moving any water & that is all
you worked on, unless the thermostat somehow
could go in backwards

Need help with 2004 volkswagon Jetta 1.9 TDI Heater is just lukewarm temperature gauge runs middle ways and bottom radiator hose is cold What is the problem

Most likely the heater core is plugged. Unhook the heater hoses from the engine and backflush the heater core with a waterhose. If its really bad you can try some radiator flush in it.

I have a 1992 Chevy caprice how do I flush the radiator

Remove hoses and use garden hose to run water through both tubes then reverse the flow and flush some more. If that won't clear the debris then replacement will be necessary

Will flushing the radiator improve the heating

Flushing the radiator should actually cause your motor to run cooler, because the flushing process removes built up gunk and rust that plugs them. If you are talkin about getting more warmth to the interior of you pick up through the heater. there are a couple things you can do. replace the engine thermostat with a little bit higher temp. or you can try to backflush the heater core itself. if you are not getting the heat through your heater the best bet is the heater core is pluged, this is very common to have happen. Hope this helped you out.

1995 Gran Am 4 cylinder. I want to back flush my cooling system using the Prestone ''Flush 'N Fill Kit. Where do I insert the Tee? I do not know which is the radiator inlet hose as this is where Prestone...

insert the tee by cutting one of the heater hoses and clamping it to the two ends that result.

determine which one is the inlet hose. It is further away from the water pump housing so that when you backflush through it, it also flushes out the heater core.

Hope this helps.

2000 Olds Silhouette (3.4L) coolant change/flush.

Power flushing is usually not a good thing as the heater cores can become blocked.I would suggest to remove the lower rad hose and drain as much coolant as possible.Refill with clear water with lower hose reattached.Bleed system of air as you fill with water and keep filling until operating temp is reached.Drive and return and drain it again the same way,now refill with at least 1 and 1/2 gallons of dexcool and don't forget to add the vegetable based aluminum protector required in your vehicle available from gm and make sure you bleed the air from the system from the valve just to the rear of the rad filler neck on the engine at the end of the coolant pipe running across the front of the engine.

Over Heating

Heater core and radiator are separate issues. But, both may have the same problem. The best non-commercial way I have found to remove internal obstructions from either is to use a household calcium and rust remover (like CLR)...On heater cores, remove both hoses and fill the core with product, then let it stand for a couple of hours. then drain and backflush.
On engine radiator, remove it, plug the lower hose connection and do the same...fill with product, let stand then backflush, then turn radiator upside down & repeat in opposite direction. The reason standard water flush often does not work is that water simply goes around the plugged area and does not remove anything except for minor debris which sometimes can actually plug other passageways and make the condition worse.
Back to the heater. It's possible that a blend door is not operating and therefore not allowing hot air to enter the heater box...check this as well.
Definitely make sure that fan is coming on and that the thermostat is actually working (I don't trust anything new just because it's new) Also check sensor & relay for fan.
Likely information "overload" but I hope something here helps!

No heat

You probably just need to backflush your heater core. You can use a hose to flush it back and then forward. You'll be surprised at how much sludge and gunk will come out.
