Chevy Cruze LT
My Cruze trunk started popping open sometimes when or shortly after I unlock the doors. The dealer told me there is salt spray in the exterior rear unlock button. The only reason it opens when I unlock the doors is because the circuit is disabled as long as the doors are locked. The circuit is disabled also when the key is in the ignition.

The solution is to stop buying chevy or gm products. It is not a sticky button, it is not you hitting it accidentally, it is GM. I had a 2005 malibu and I have a 2013 cruz. I should have learned after it happened over a dozen times with the first car. Now the trunk opens in the middle of the night with no one touching the keys. Dealership's just laugh at you.

There is an updated component you must switch out.
On page 5 of this document it addresses the issue, New 2X Trunk Release Relay

Can anyone explain how to stop this please

Mine has also done that. We have gone out to our car in the morning, from a hotel, to find the trunk open. It has also happened on at least 2 other occasions. Garage said it can be fixed. Still waiting for the parts after over 2 weeks.

SOURCE: The trunk lid is stuck..will not open. Tried
You will need to try from the inside. Sometimes pushing the lid 'more' shut works too!

Remove the bulb if you think it runs the battery down. the switch is part of the latch assembly of the trunk.

Fold down rear seat and climb in the trunk....there is a manual release at the center of the trunk lid. (mandated by the government to kids don't get trapped in the trunk).

SOURCE: how to fix the torque bar located in the trunk lid
You need to position the spring with the bushing on it against the hinge and set it into the slot just under the panel behind your backglass. On the opposite side, pull the end into say the middle hole for starters and make sure it is seated completely. Do the same for the other side, open the trunk and make sure it stays open, if not you can adjust it by moving your torsion springs to the next hole.
