1995 benz oil press. prpblem

I have a 1995 Mercedes benz 220 petrol sedan and the engine oil pressure gauge started to act funny. ie gradually go down in pressure
, when the oil is cold press. is normal and when warm it gradually goes to zero. The oil light is not on so I suspect the oil press. is ok just a faulty gage. Where is the press sensor situated so I can check it and is there some way I can test the oil press.is ok

Thanks mattman for the info, really thought it must be the answer so i changed the filter and sadly it did not make any differance. So it must be the sender unit. Any idea where the press tramsmitter is situated,

    Cheers Steve

    Once again many thanks

The filter might need to be replaced, there's a bypass valve that opens up when the filter is plugged to avoid starving the engine of oil. without the resistance of the filter, oil pressure is low. PLEASE RATE MY ANSWER.

What are the output specifications for the oil pressure transmitter (it's a 2-wire sensor)in a 2001 Bentley Arnage? (I need the mA outputs corresponding to various oil pressures, at say, 10psi, 20psi,

the oil pressure hot on your test gauge will be below recommended pressure necessary for the proper lubrication of the engine . The control module as you say will be set higher to notify you before that pressure is reached so that there is sufficient time to shut down the engine

I have a 1995 mercedes 220 oil in the cooling system gunky white. car runs excellent except for that.

Head gasket has failed replaced before something gets worse. Oil in coolant is not good for cooling and at some point water can get into oil and that will cause engine failure.

Merc 3 220 petrol, engine turns but wont start. presume its a fuel pump issue, how do check?

Listen for the fuel pumps to come on when you turn the car to on (not start) if you hear them its a spark issue normally. Suggest checking/replacing coil packs, engine wiring harnesses for degradation because of biodegradable wiring insulation.

Dealer said oil sensor on ml320 needs replaced. what does this do?

Your engine oil sensor is a pressure switch used to send oil pressure information to the dash, be it an idiot light or gauge. It is a critical part since your engine will seize up if there is low oil pressure. Replace the sensor or have it replaced. Have the engine tested with a handheld gauge. These are available at any auto supply store.
